MoosMa's kitchen nightmares

My first ever packet of Soda Crystals arrived in my Tesco order this evening so I'd thought I'd work some magic on my seldom washed kitchen floor. I made up the solution with boiling water for extra fast drying and set to washing the floor with a cloth.

I got a bit carried away as I went round and washed the table legs (felt a bit strange, that action ), the bin, dehumidifier, skirting boards, dishwasher door, etc etc. Finally I finished and went off to relax for the evening. As I looked back I thought to myself that it didn't look as shiny as I'd expected, but heyho, we'll see when it's totally dry.

So off I go and watch some tv for a couple of hours, get up to lock the door and pop on MN before bed, I walk into the kitchen and the floor's all white!

Nobody told me I had to rinse it off!

So there I go again, rinsing the floor, the doors, the skirting boards, wank the table legs again, mop up, remove my white-soled socks and flop on to the PC for sympathy.

Please?

you don't have to wash it off! how much did you add to the water?

I've never had to rinse it off, but I only use about half a cup full to wash my kitchen floor.

Ah, I did half a cup per pint (I'm sure that's what it said on the packet ).

I've had to rinse it again this morning and I think I might have to do it again - it still looks a bit white!

I do more like half a cup to 4+ litres. Whatever would half fill a big mop bucket.

I do make it more concentrated for other purposes, but only as a soak, or paste for scrubbing, when I know I'll be rewashing or rinsing later.
