hi,i have used fabric conditioner for yrs lenor/comfort and lots of other brands but is it just me after being out on the line towels especially go hard and clothes etc never feel soft

i have tried most and have had 3/4 machines over the years but always the same,if i tumble towels to finish them off are softer but i think that is more to do with the dryer but i do live in a hard water area

am i the only one that suffers this

I saw a video on TikTok about making towels soft. You need to hold the short end and shake violently, as if shaking sand off your beach, then hold the long side and again shake violently. It’s a real workout for the arms but it fluffs up the fibres so they dry soft. I’d never put softer on towels as it coats them so they don’t dry you properly.
Half a cup of white vinegar in the wash, rather than softener, neutralises the minerals and leaves them softer too.

Yes, definitely no softener on towels, and if you really want them soft, you should tumble dry fully. You could start them while still damp, or add some moisture like a wet face cloth, but the result won't be as soft.

I don't think you're supposed to use fabric conditioner on towels.

I always use a water softener tablet for every wash and fully tumble dry. Towels nice and soft. We're also in a hard water area

Why would you want to use that horrible stuff? It's made from animal fat (unless you seek out the vegan/eco types). I don't see the point of coating all your clothes, towels etc in artificial scent and animal fat, and it interferes with the absorbency of towels. You can use vinegar apparently.
