We're encouraged to wash at 30 degrees, so why don't the tablets dissolve?

I'm having to wash my clothes twice. I keep finding big lumps of undissolved tablets smeared all over my clothes.

Not exactly helpful in saving energy is it?

I'm using Persil non-bio. Have just tried asking them this through the 'contact us' form on their website. Surprise surprise it doesn't work.

Also, the clothes don't come out as clean. Well, some clothes.

It's a good way for your whites to go dingy, or towels and bedding.

not all washing powders can do a wash under 40
buy one that can or buy the powder instead
tis much cheaper tbh

Which liquid/powder do you use hatrick? And is it non-bio?

They are probably formulated to be used at 40 degrees (which is a better temperature for the enzymes).

I did not think you actually got rid of bacteria at 30? 30 Degrees is pretty cold.

expatinscotland · 05/04/2008 14:34

ah, perhaps so, hat.

i can't change my machine, though.

it belongs to the landlord.

expatinscotland · 05/04/2008 14:36

i do towels and bedding at 60, exceping some specialty bedding like some quilts i have.

line drying helps kill bacteria, as well.

i finish the towels off with 15 mins. in the dryer, however, so they're not all crunchy.

I have a very good washing machine, and have tried all sorts of detergents, but finally just accept that if you want white things white, or stains out of things, then you have to wash at 40 degrees or more.

Oh, and I buy the tablets cos I get fed-up with the mess that loose powders make.

digitalgirl · 05/04/2008 14:51

to be honest, I prefer washing at 40 to get rid of stains and any lingering smells - but some clothes specify 30 or handwash (not that I do any handwashing), and I'd rather not ruin/shrink them. or waste energy.
