Hello,
My 5 year old is coming home everyday with big black pen marks on his white shirts, I'm going insane as I can't get the marks out I've tried hand sanitiser, surgical spirit, Napisan, vanish spray, eco bleach, Ace for Whites bleach spray, left them in the sunshine which faded them abit. In the last term I've bought x3 more packs of shirts 😩 is there anything I can do to remove these stains that are already washed in? And what can I use on any fresh stains?
Thank you for any advice x

This stuff.
Dr Beckmann Stain Devils For Ballpoint Ink & Felt Tip Stain Remover 50G https://amzn.eu/d/gRYbhRu

And make sure you wash stuff on a cool cycle - the heat will set the stain

Eta: I put it on the pen stain and leave it a while, then scrub it with a damp toothbrush to see if it's shifting it, add more stain remover, leave for a bit, scrub some more, then when it's mostly gone chuck it in the machine and it always comes out.

It's worked for me on things that have already been washed when didn't see the stain.

Rubbing alcohol/surgical spirit from the supermarket chemist, I just let it sit in for a while then rinse and wash, that was ballpoint pen though not sure whaat type of ink the shirts have on.
It smells strongly so might need 2 washes after.

My son had a very expensive hoodie he thought was ruined my acrylic paint, couldn't get it out then tried nail varnish remover. 99 % out of. Soak the spot and re wash

Thank you! Was that on a washed in stain already? Or fresh stain?

Thank you! I've tried surgical spirit already 😩 god knows what kind of pens they're using that won't come out

Ah! Sorry I missed that in your list I think because I usually call it rubbing alcohol, hope you find something!

This was my 12 year old DGD! Black felt tip in the pocket NO TOP,, I tried all the usual. DH(retired motor vehicle technician,) used brake fluid cleaner in aerosol. He gets all sorts off with that!

Not sure about dried in, but I use washing up liquid on all stains before putting clothes in the washing machine and it is surprisingly good. Might be worth trying on future pen stains.

For stubborn stains, I use hairspray (as recommended by a hairdresser) or alcohol hand gel, but that may not work if you've already tried alcohol.

I got to the point where I just accepted that the shirts would have pen on them until they got to an age where they were more careful. As long as they were otherwise clean and fresh that was good enough for me.

They used whiteboard pens a lot when mine were at primary school so it's not like they were even permanent markers.

Try

Milk (leave to soak)
Nail varnish remover ( try somewhere inconspicuous)
Vanilla essence (dab on with cotton wool leave a few minutes then wash)

Have used them all with varying results.

Oh no! It's always got everything out for me Sad Did it make no difference at all? Sometimes I have to leave it on for a couple of hours and keep toothbrushing and reapplying every so often.
