Crispy clothes!? (Outside drying)

Hey guys, those of you who dry your laundry outside, HOW do you keep it soft!?

I use bold 3-in-1 gel as a detergent and lenor fabric conditioner, and every time I dry the laundry outside, it just doesn't have that soft feeling like it does when I use the tumble dryer?

Any tips for softer clothing when outdoor drying, please?☺️

I just use Aldi detergent and I don’t find it a problem with clothes after a quick shake out but I do always tumble dry my towels as they go so crispy and scratchy!

Only way mine soften up is when ironed but following with interest

Throw them in the tumble dryer for a few minutes when you bring them in

Bring the washing in before it's completely dry, then finish off in the tumble dryer. If it's dried completely give it a quick spray with water, then into the TD on a cool setting.

I prefer the crispy feel!

A good shake when they’re dry sorts out any crispiness for me

They need wind to make them soft outside. If they dry fast with no wind they get a bit stiff.

I find that it's the cotton and linen clothes, rather than man made fabrics, that tend to get the crispy feeling and they always soften up once they've been ironed. I know some people don't iron much, but I don't think most linen clothing is wearable unless it's been ironed.

I prefer crispy, especially towels so no help here.

I find drying outside makes T-shirts and jeans more creased than when I pop them in the tumble dryer. As I don’t own an iron, I just put them in the dryer when I bring them indoors and shove a couple of ice cubes in with them. It creates a kind of steam effect apparently which is like magic, 10 minutes and they are crease free!

I love a crispy towel! Exfoliation for free 😆

They just loosen up once stored/worn. No way would I add extra work for myself ironing or tumbling, I’m already a saint for washing and hanging them out in the first place!!

DancefloorAcrobatics · 17/05/2024 07:53

Ditch the softner, give them a good shake before hanging up and iron.

Anything I want to be really soft still goes in the dryer. I find stuff that needs ironing anyway is ok to hang out as the ironing softens it. Alternatively I've found 30 minutes in the dryer then hanging the stuff out while it's still wet but now hot and steaming will ensure that it dries soft.
