I am seriously considering this but no idea how much it costs.
This is the job I hate the most!

Is it gas or electric?

PABLOP · 03/04/2008 19:44

Gas, why?

I think it's about £40 to £60

I looooove my pyrolytic oven

TheDevilWearsPenneys · 03/04/2008 19:48

Ah okay, then my advice isn't valid.

I recently did my friends for her, layered the base with kitchen towel to absorb the grease, turned it on and sprayed and sprayed with a vinegar lemon and water solution. It just needs to be wiped over after that.
I left er with strict instructions to wipe it over like that at least every other day.

It's what I do and it really works.

I have used 'Oven Clean' for an electric double oven. It cost £55 I would def recommend. It took a couple of hours and came up as brand new, they replaced all the filters and even one of the bulbs on the cooker hood. If I remember right you can choose which parts you want cleaning eg. not the hob or the grill etc. or the the full works.

I do try and keep the oven clean but this is def a deep clean that you might have done twice a year.

HTH

Hi TheDevilWearsPenneys won't that work on a gas oven then? Problem I've got is that a casserole boiled over and has burnt on to the bottom and smokes like crazy when the oven is on, it's a double oven so I'm using the other one for now . Also the glass on each door seems marked and I've used elbow grease without much sucsess

MrsOnTheMove, I'll look into Oven clean thanks, if I could just get a real good deep lclean then it would be easier to keep on top of. I'm not lazy just really hate cleaning the oven.

My Mum used a company last year and now has factored the cost into the annual household budget.. she has rebooked them to come in this year.. felt like a new oven

I've used, I think?, Ovenclean in the past, once. It did cost about £50. It is negotiable based on how bad the oven is and whether you want all of it or some of it cleaned. Whoever it was I used (nationwide company) didn't use any chemicals. They have some kind of vat in the van and I think it is steam cleaning, can't remember. Anyway, it was good, it did look really clean and not nasty chemical smells, and he did take over two hours to do it, but was a bit chatty, not too bad.

Also used Ovenclean cost £45 very good. Am getting them back cos I've vowed never to clean my oven again. i never get the Mr Muscle stuff off and it stinks for ages.

Novicecamper · 05/04/2008 22:49

I have and it cost £50 I think - it was worth it.

SheWhoShops · 06/04/2008 11:14

Mine cost £90! But the guy told me that that stuff you get in Lakeland (ovenmate - you just spread it on and wipe it off later, no fumes)is what they use but a little less strong. Also that you need to use a DRY wire scrubber to get burnt on stuff off, not wet, as that doesn't work.

Skyatnight was it OvenU that you used - sounds like the guy that did mine. But I was cross cos my oven was really not that dirty and if he hadn't drunk two coffees, a tea, and told me his life story, it would have been £50 I bet. I should be more forceful with people.

SheWhoShops · 06/04/2008 11:15

Oh, sorry, Ovenclean, right, gotcha

WideWebWitch · 06/04/2008 11:15

yes, used ovenu, was great.
