FAQ · 03/04/2008 15:40

as I'm feeling "ok" not good but better than I have been and really need to get some stuff sorted.

List of things I need to do are

Hanging washing on the radiators
Do another load of washing
Iron enough clothes for the next day or two (we've run out completely)
Wash and make up the bottles
Cook dinner
Clean Fridge out (lots of old/out of date stuff in there)

Then at some point this evening I need to do an online shop......

Anyone going to come and hold my hand (or even join in)

I've just hung a load on the line & am waiting for another load to finish...is it dry there?

Tickle · 03/04/2008 15:41

would join in, but washing machine broken

so I'll probably just start making the dinner instead!

have fun

FAQ · 03/04/2008 15:43

no it's damp, not really too cold, but as I'm so far behind with the washing I'm going to stick the heating on now so I can get some stuff dry.....

DS3 has literally no clean clothes
DS2 has a few bits (mostly too small) plus a few bits screwed up in the laundry basket waiting to be ironed
DS1 has absolutely NO clean school uniform at all - he's worn the set he's just took off for the last 3 days

FAQ - that's the first smile from you I have seen - keep it up (I have been on your other thread)

itsMYmummy · 03/04/2008 15:53

FAQ, well done

If you want my expert opinion!!!!
I would say
1.stick a load into washing machine (most essential first)
2.While clothes washing start to clean out fridge/decide what to cook for dinner.
3.Stick on oven to preheat.
4.put kettle onto boil for bottles.

  1. check kettle is boiling!
  2. plonk bottles into sink, leave to soak for a mo.
7.finish off fridge and put dinner on, does'nt matter if its another oven meal!! 8.Wash and make bottles, put them into fridge, oh! of course before you do this check the kettle has boiled!!!! Bends over to expose ample derriere so you can kick me!
  1. when laundry has finished try and hang things to avoid the need for ironing, or only iron the essentials while dc's are asleep, maybe watch a bit of telly while you iron?

How did things go at M&T?

FAQ · 03/04/2008 15:59

well I've just stuck a load of washing on, and hung stuff that was wet on the 3 radiators downstairs....

I'll have to iron it (at some point) habit I'm afraid (picked up from my mum as a children and reinforced by H......)

I've already boiled the kettle.

About to collect the bottles together and put them next to the sink, and then have a ciggie....

Unfortunately it would seem that this motivation really is small and wanes quickly...never mind 15 minute sessions, think I'm going to be lucky if I get it done in 5 minute ones

M&T was ok, didn't help when (ironically) S and S (R and I's mums) were joking to the kids "come and drink your beer" " you know what we should all get, a little hip flask to carry on us at all times" and other such jokes.....of course they have no idea so can't blame them for having a laugh.

It's not on for the next 2 weeks.....

oh - and it's too early for dinner, I've got (ready made) Chicken Kievs in the freezer, and chips, and some frozen veg...

OP posts:
itsMYmummy · 03/04/2008 16:06

Oh! That would sound extremely insensitive except they don't know anything do they. Although probably hurt none the less.
As for motivation, sorry but you're speaking to the wrong person, that is probably my worst trait.I'm not self motivated at all.
In fact my mother would say 'if you put as much time and energy doing what you should instead of trying to avoid it you'd be an A* student'.
Why don't you come to mine next thurs?

jesuswhatnext · 03/04/2008 16:09

oooohhhhhh faq - i have been lurking on a cuople of your threads, nice to see you feeling a bit more positive

i think doing a bit of housework is a really good idea, it will tire you (should help you sleep) and a tidy house will brighten your mood anyway (always does me anyway)

FAQ · 03/04/2008 16:10

well most of the stuff I'm hoping to get done isn't really going to result in a tidy house.....

FAQ · 03/04/2008 16:31

I have now (at last) managed to wash the bottles.

Think I'm going to try and tackle the fridge next.....

OP posts:
FAQ · 03/04/2008 17:53

bottles are done, fridge has all the old stuff out and dinner is nearly finished cooking...

Also got my 3rd load of washing in the machine.

itsMYmummy · 03/04/2008 19:51

Well done! hope the evening is going as well as can be expected.

FAQ · 03/04/2008 19:53

yes not too bad.........kind of "lost" it since dinner, although I have at least rinsed and stacked the dishes.......nothing else done though

OP posts:
stuffitllama · 03/04/2008 19:54

doesn't it feel fantastic to clean out the fridge
well done faq i feel vicariously cleansed

FAQ · 03/04/2008 19:55

well I didn't actually clean the fridge itself, just threw out all the stuff that had been open for a while/gone past its BBD.....

Janni · 03/04/2008 19:59

Ha FAQ! I did this the last time and you abandoned me , but my flat ended up tidier!

I'm back on the FLY thing now (I use it a bit like AA) so I won't join you tonight but wish you well.

stuffitllama · 03/04/2008 19:59

with me there's usually so much of it it's EXTREMELY satisfying

eekamoose · 03/04/2008 20:07

I don't know how to post this without annoying you but, honestly, I have your best interests at heart.

If you like ironing and it makes you happy then go ahead and iron.

But, if it is another chore on your list of many chores, you could avoid it by:

Getting a couple of over radiator hanger-thingys from the DIY shop. Shake out the dcs tops energetically when getting them out of the machine. Put them on hangers and hook them over the radiator dryers in a row. (I have 12 tops and t-shirts drying on our hallway radiator like this as I type). They will dry quickly and then you can just hoik them all upstairs and hang them in their wardrobe in about 2 mins.

No-one will ever notice the difference.

Please feel free to ignore this if it just pisses you off!

itsMYmummy · 03/04/2008 20:11

You inspired me to clean, and thats no mean feat!

FAQ · 03/04/2008 20:16

I don't mind ironing (usually), but that motivation and drive has now completely gone.....so I'll just get the stuff out of the basket ready for the morning and iron what they need then.....

b*gger was feeling ok most of today too

OP posts:
itsMYmummy · 03/04/2008 20:43

Thats an improvement though!
Try not to be too hard on yourself. you know DH placed unrealistic and unfair expectations on you, don't hang yourself with the noose hes made for you, do things you're way as and when it suits YOU.
All that matters is that you and dc's are happy and healthy, the rest will sort itself out in time.
