Please tell me about your robot hoover!

I feel like I spend my LIFE sweeping/hoovering/picking up crumbs. If anyone has a robot hoover please could you let me know which one, and if it:

Can get right up close to the skirting boards (this is where the dust and fluff lives in my house. Where does it come from??)

Can it move from tiles to carpet? Or do they need different settings?

Can it move over metal room divider thingies?

Does it get stuck under the sofa or is there some way of telling it not to go there?

Thank you!

I'm excited to get one 🤩

We have a Eufy called Goofy too!

very pleased with it though - does a very good daily clean: gets into the corners; moves from one room to another and one floor type to another (carpet to tile) no problem.

Hyacinth (Roomba) is pretty cool, if not a bit precious about small inclines. She needs filling with fluid regularly and needs cleaning often (we have three dogs) but I wouldn't be without her.

Wish she would refrain from trying to eat charging cables though!

Slavetomycat · 09/05/2024 00:36

Can any of these manage not to eat the fringe on an oriental carpet? I loathe vacuuming and am very tempted!

stayathomer · 09/05/2024 00:43

I’ve a roomba, great but yes gets stuck/ has to have stuff removed, is fab for when you want stuff done so are leaving it off, but it doesn’t come close (for me - who has kids and pets)- to sweeping and hoovering yourself

youlied · 09/05/2024 00:44

I have Cinders upstairs and Prince Charming downstairs wouldn't be without them.

We had a cheaper one (about £120), but he stopped going back to his charger. I asked Amazon about and they said send it back for a full refund, this was 10 months later. He didn't map and the mop wasn't great. But he went off on his merry way ever day and I was horrified by how much dog hair he collected even though I used to hoover nearly every day.

Currently waiting for this one to arrive https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B0CT8KBSGP?psc=1&ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_product_details

I love my Euffy, except today one of the cats missed the litter tray and my robot friend has spread cat shit throughout the house. Just what you want when you step in the door from work 😬

SnakesAndArrows · 09/05/2024 15:23

I have a Roomba. He cleans edges and can move easily over room thresholds. Occasionally, especially when his sensors get a bit dusty, he does mad things like claim to be stuck somewhere when he isn’t, climb over the rocking chair rockers, or last week he repeatedly tried to mount the Braava’s base while the Braava was pootling around cleaning the kitchen.

He’s never tried to eat anything he shouldn’t - is more likely to run away in a panic and send me photos to complain about my poor housekeeping - although he did once manage to wrap himself in a bath mat.

Something went wrong with the room dividers/keep out maps once and he kept desperately trying to get into the utility room through the dining room wall, but I think that was an app system fault.

Other than that… highly recommended!

Thank you so much for all the info and recommendations!

I'm going shopping this weekend 🤩

I have two eufy robot hoovers. One just hoovers but the other hoovers and mops.

The one that just hoovers (Brian) is brilliant. Totally recommend.

The one that mops is not so great (Rick). It hoovers in straight lines rather than random like Brian and it doesn't have the functionality Brian has such as magnetic strips for areas you don't want him to go in and remote control. I wish I'd spent a bit more and got one that maps. It still is good though more like wiping with a damp cloth.

I’m onto my fifth robot, this one is Scully and he’s a Roborock and the best one I have had. I set him off 3 times a day ( they have all been hard workers) and it’s amazing how much dust he constantly picks up. We have a dog and a Maine Coon cat so gets dusty. I’ve had mopping ones in the past but didn’t really like them, so this one just vacuums.
He doesn’t map, I just let him bump around and he picks up a lot. Sometimes I shut him in a room and let him go in there.

Wouldnt be without one now.

TicTac80 · 12/05/2024 00:43

I have two eufy robovacs :) the one downstairs just hoovers, the one upstairs hoovers and mops (it’s the x9). I set them to go everyday. Both are amazing:I have multiple cats and two kids, so need all the help I can get

scruffydogstinks · 12/05/2024 00:50

Love my eufy! I only got a basic model, think paid about £100 last Black Friday, I have dogs so eufy coming out every night saves me lots of sweeping. I do an auto edge clean then operate it like a remote control car from the comfort of the sofa. Wish I'd splashed out on a room mapping one and mopping one.

Definitely get one, you won't regret it!

Although I still find you need to get the good old fashioned wired Dyson out every couple of weeks for a more thorough clean.

Pieceofpurplesky · 12/05/2024 02:02

I have Effie the Euphy she is brilliant except when she eats socks in the bathroom.

I love coming home to a clean floor

SnakesAndArrows · 12/05/2024 16:56

Marvin shut himself in the bathroom today. He worries the door until it closes. He only has himself to blame.

Aposterhasnoname · 13/05/2024 21:11

I’ve just upgraded my cheap lefant which just bumbled around randomly till the battery died, to an eufy, which has mapping. I’ve just sent it out to clean the kitchen without moving my arse off the sofa. I loved my lefant, but this new one is just the best thing ever bought. It was under £200 on Amazon. Complete bargain.
