I dont find reading an issue, just spelling, in fact I was highly advanced in my reading at school (preen), but couldnt put the words right almost like my brain works too fast and if I dont just write then I forget everything not just the word

Ruby - I'm sure there ARE things you can do to help your DD with spelling phonics games etc. Teacher sounds a bit offhand. Maybe other MNers could recommend resources to help, or you could do a search and see if anything comes up

DD howls when I leave her at nursery, but I'm told she's happy and settled when there, so I have to grit my teeth and do it. I'm only 5 mins away so they can always call me...I just feel so GUILTY!

Jobs to do: dishwasher, hang laundry, clean loos, another 15 min blitz on DS2s room.

laserjet · 03/04/2008 14:42

Hi

I am a regular but have had to name change.

Have done

washing
dishwasher
made a cake for tea
peeled potatoes for tea
hung up wet washing
folded clean and dry washing
given the cat some biscuits as she said she was hungry and hadn't been fed for days
taken ds2 for new shoes
posted card to best friend
wrapped up present for DH

Grouchyoscar · 03/04/2008 15:01

I'm back!

Thanks everyone. I am taking it steady. The leg pain is muscular, not neuropathic this time (makes a nice change) Mark Kermode is on the radio so I'm

Ruby Ed is the same, he hides his light under a bushel. He can do reading, knows {officially} 28 letter sounds (but he knows more) but when I sit down with a book he clams up. I'm trying hard to pull his potential out but he'll only do it for himself

I did buy 2 books from Redhouse for him. I felt guilty as I've just paid £25 for tickets to a gig in Manchester so he can have Aliens Love Underpants and Captain Stinkysocks and I can go to The Acadamey guilt free.

FURTHER DONES

Made lunch
Washed up
wiped basalmic vinegar off tables (Ed sips it off teaspoons [ugh it's salad dressing you dingle]
Filled the bird feeder

TMH very . I'd never have thought! Makes Frank Bough look like a boy scout!

TheMadHouse · 03/04/2008 15:49

Afternoon all

Groucy Who are you going to see and glad you are resting young lady

Ruby I have to ensure that I reread everything I type. I also find that I am worse at it when I am tired. With regards to spellings - I find that understanding the meaning fully helps, also things like Boxed Eggs Are Useful To Idle Folk Unless Lasy for beautiful.

Laxer Give us a clue and why do people have to change names - did you have a stalker

I have not mananged to get a lot done, but have

Done shopping
Put it away
Bedding in dryer
Ironing
Basic bleuring - not hoovered yet
Played bugs in strawberry game with DS's

TheMadHouse · 03/04/2008 15:50

Oh yes and the Max Mosley thing - urgggggggggg reminds me why I could not read the news of the world. It is bad enough that he did these things, but to know the exact order etc - did they tape him?

Grouchyoscar · 03/04/2008 19:13

TMH I'm going to see Edgar Jones and the Joneses, it's the guy who used to be in The Stairs and he is an absolute genius IMHO.

Had a really nice afternoon. The next door neighbour and her 5 kids came round. They are from Botswana and we have a recorded copy of The Ladies No1 detective agency. The young ones played so nicely with Ed's Lego and the mum and the eldest daughter sang the songs and danced. Made me feel really warm and hopeful for a nice community summer in the yard.

BTW, where's everybody gone

Janni · 03/04/2008 19:29

Grouchy - that sounds such a lovely way to spend an afternoon! Don't know who Max Mosley is [shame] but have to go and google him now.

DD determined to prove me wrong about her bedtime being 7p.m. We had a lovely bedtime hour but she's still calling out, not wanting to go to sleep.

Jobs to do:
15 min blitz on study
tidy hallway

TheMadHouse · 03/04/2008 20:21

Evening all

We had a lovley afternoon too, spent playing in the garden.

Boys are now in bed and I have cleaned all the tops in the kitchen
Made our bed
Remade DS1's bed
Hoovered
Coooked DInner for the DS's
Bathed them both
Room rescued the convervatory/playroom/garden

GO DH would like that too

I need to clean our doors (mirrors) on the fitted wardbrobes (DS1 and toothpaste) when I go and put my loungeware on (read PJ's)

And why is it so lovley when the weekend is going to be so cack

dylsmum1998 · 03/04/2008 20:26

hi everyone
i havent caught up eith the whole thread
just popping in to say i did a fair amount of flying today, have tidied the dining area of the room. i have a nice looking dining table with my flowers, my friend bought me to say thanks, proudly in the centre. i also tidied up dd wendy house and kitchen things, need to buy smaller box/basket to keep things in to help her tidy them as the one they are in now is bigger than her!!
also cleaned behing the freezer, so its looking much better.
got my assignment back from uni, its a pass but a very low one. not really that suprised to be honest as i wrote it in 2 nights before it was due and it didnt make much sense to me . still its a pass so it'll do.
then went shopping for a bit to waste the hour or so before me and dd had our haircuts. mine looks much better, and dd sat lovely cant beleive she was so good. she's had the ends trimmed so they look much better, but we've not lost much of the length which is good.

hope everyone is doing ok, will catch up a bit later

Themadhouse -

number3letters

Motherfunk's thread freaked me out a bit and worried me for my kids safety. Loooooong story but don't want my mother finding me via MN.

BiancaCastafiore · 03/04/2008 21:12

laserjet sorry you've had to name-change I had to too a while ago after being outed by someone else in our (small) town - it was quite unnerving to discover someone had been reading up on me

grouchy sounds like a lovely pm

I went and did my shift at school then took the kids to the park (along with most parents from school I think!) A nice social afetrnoon

Still feeling a bit sicky on and off so am signing off now and heading for bed. See you all tomorrow x

Janni · 03/04/2008 21:38

Yes the MotherFunk thread was quite frightening, wasn't it?

Am having a relaxing evening drinking wine and browsing MN but should probably do something else around the flat.

Will: have 15 min blitz on DS2s room.

I really like this 15 min thing - it suits me!

Grouchyoscar · 03/04/2008 21:58

Laserjet No, that thread wasn't pleasant was it. Understand the new handle

TMH Your DH is a fan of early 90s scouse bands too? (Parallell lives approaching again)

TeenyTinyTorya · 03/04/2008 22:00

Ok, I've completely failed at flying in the past two days! However, I have been working pretty much 18 hours a day, so that's my excuse

Will be back tomorrow with a better attempt!

Blueskythinker · 03/04/2008 22:17

Evening,

This is the first time I have read a Fly thread. Can anyone tell me about it? I have only quckly scanned through all the posts, but I see loads of lists of things to do, and things done - and I am getting pretty excited that I may have found some like-minded people.

No-one fully understands the satisfaction I feel when I stroke things off my never-ending list of things to do

Can I join in?

Bewilderbeast · 03/04/2008 22:31

Evening all

just popping in to say hi, am off to be shortly, completely exhausted zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz. Hope you're all well

DontDreamItBeIt · 03/04/2008 22:53

Waaay too many posts for me to read today, so I'm just checking in so I can find you all tomorrow, assuming everyone doesn't change names and confuse me further.

Bluesky, there is a link to FLYlady website at the beginning of each days thread, but we are all trying to do some kind of housework routine. If listmaking helps you, you are probably in the righ place!
