What should I do about this minging bit of my kitchen?

I have a new kitchen. Hurray!

But there's one bit I didn't even think about and it's the seal around the bottom kickboards. It's clear against a white background. Bits of dirt get in it and it looks farking minging. And I can't clean it because there's hardly any gap between the seal and the kickboard. If it try and clean it with a toothbrush, it just pushes it further down towards the floor. Here's what I mean, the bit at the front is the floor and the bit at the back is the kickboard. You can see where dirt has got into the seal.

What would you do about this? I'm half thinking of just ripping the seal up and putting down some of that clear glue you use to seal surfaces and make them waterproof (can't remember what it's called). But I wondered if there's some kind of tool I can use to clean it properly before I go for such a drastic option?

What should I do about this minging bit of my kitchen?

Had the same problem and I took the trim off! Actually I seem to remember I put a bit on and thought that's going to be horrible so took it off and didn't use the rest. Stupid bit of design, the kick board looks fine without for me, I guess you could put a painted wood bead around if the gap is noticeable.

My vegetable draw in the fridge has a similar problem, the way it is assembled leaves a tiny gap between two layers of plastic which you can't disassemble, but at least I can take it outside and use a pressure sprayer to blast the bits out from between two layers (when it really starts to annoy me, not every day!).

Are you not worried about the possibility that the kickboards will get wet and swell @Bumblebeeinatree ?

You should be able to remove the kick board easily, it's usually just clamped to the legs of the cupboards above. Use something flat like a ruler to wiggle in at one end and they should pop out.

Once you've got the board out you'll see that hopefully the trim can be easily slid off the bottom of it. I then put it in the bath, spray it with cif foam , leave it a while then rinse with shower and wipe.

When it's dry I slide it back on and pop the kick board back on.
