Cleaning washing machine draw (above where water comes through)

How do you do it?!

I take the draw out, soak and clean.

Now here is my problem. The little holes above the draw where the water comes through. It gets filthy and black.

Currently I scrub with a toothbrush, wipe black scum away with anti bac wipes, then get a turkey baster and squirt water on it and keep wiping.

Do you have a better way? Jez there has to be!

Wow are you always so condescending @BluebellsareBlue ?

I don’t get the hate, we all knew it wasn’t a draw, and the op wrote it repeatedly, so politely pointing it out is fine, she will then know in future,

I’ve seen loads of posts on here where folks take the piss out of anyone who writes draw or Chester draws, if I get something wrong, I’d rather know.

Some machines are worse than others for this. The last one I had, a bosch, was terrible for it. I'd laboriously ungunk each hole with a toothpick. And then clean as best I could with various cleaning products and brushes.

My new one, a beko, isn't any where near as bad. Go figure!

I do clean it fairly regularly to try and keep it from getting bad, but I also did that with the bosch.

Hope you're OK op, sounds like you had shitty news and then shitty posts on your thread.

@AlwaysFreezing that is interesting to know, when my Hoover washer breaks I will look to replace with a Beko!

Things aren’t great tbh, but thank you for asking 😊.

Once youve managed to get the holes cleaned out, only use soap powder for your laundry. Liquid detergent is the stuff that causes the build up of gunk.

I find that provided that I take the drawer out after each wash to drain out the water and leave it to air dry that I don’t really have to clean it. Sometimes I wipe out a bit of soap liquid that has been left with a damp cloth but that’s all. The little holes don’t seem to get mouldy provided that the drawer is totally dry before being put back in.

I also soak up the water that gathers in the seal of the door after every wash and then leave the door open overnight. As my washing machine is in a high traffic area of my kitchen, I cannot leave the door open all the time, I’d be bumping into it constantly!

I use non bio powder and oxygen bleach on the whites first. Never had an issue. Soft water area though

@BluebellsareBlue I understand obviously, but why be so mean about it?

Does it make you feel better for making me feel stupid?

Just I wouldn’t dream of pointing it out

It seems to be like this on MN. People rush to point out others flaws. Constantly.
