MOULD

My house is very damp (old commercial property, no damp proofing and half of it underground). I keep on top of the ventilation and have dehumidifiers but was horrified to discover dd1s bedroom (which I never enter by mutual agreement) has loads of mould - mostly white, some black.

Can I take care of this myself with vinegar and an open window? Or should I call in a mould specialist? Anyone know how much those guys tend to charge?

You can tackle it yourself and kill it just as well but, without tackling the cause, you will be fighting a losing battle tbh.

Thanks, yes I know the remedial action will need to go beyond vinegar. I swear this house is made out of cardboard and brown tape..

Not that I am in the UK, but I would call a good specialist to at least give a report so you know what you are dealing with. Once he/she has walked out of the door, I would have the vinegar sloshing.

Make sure the white stuff isn't dry rot.
