has anyone had their kitchen doors and worktops replaced? instead of an entire new kitchen?

i have had lots of quotes now for a new kitchen. i cannot afford any of them.

so

i am now thinking about those companies who replace the doors and worktops. i might even get a new oven depending on price

i know this is dull but i wonder if nayone could give me an idea of price?

Well sink hob/oven and extractor better off with howdens. Though when I fitted four houses last year I used ebay for sinks and makro for ovens. It would be good if we could get Stuart ( The fitter) to do the work as I know he does a good job. I dont like recommending unless I would have it done myself. If not as we have trade accounts Ill ask my DP tonight words of wisdom. What type of door finish do you want and what type of worktop ?

just the cheapest worktop tbh. i cant decide on doors but i dont like gloss ones. i like oak a lot but obv not real wood

I`m in Shropshire Telford area. I know Stuart works all over the country. Our kitchen fitter Peter ( again Shropshire) who normally fits a complete kitchen is also very good. He has done some lovely work on our properties. Though he costs a £100 a day. I want a whole Kitchen for for mothers house in Kent as so many people are over priced and unreliable I am considering giving him bed and board to do the work.

With a ten inch upstand. You also want a 480mm worktop as it looks more expensive. Get a glass cutter to make the splahback behind the hob cost us £35.00. A franke sink is a good brand and do you want electric or gas applicances ?

FRANKE single bowl sink stainless steel + Flight Tap 85.99 on ebay. Bargain as tap is £120 for itself B&Q. If you bought a cooker and hob from the same people ask them to do a deal. Also don`t forget a cooker has to be certified by a electrician now under current legislation.

We had our tiles, doors, drawer fronts and worktops replaced a couple of years ago. We had the worktops fitted but dh did the doors and drawer fronts himself, he also fitted new handles and did the painting tiling. We kept the old sink and old appliances. Whole lot came in at less than £1K. I think it was about 14 cupboards and 8 drawers and a U shaped bit of worktop and a couple of straight bits - around 4500mm of work top needed in all.

We got the doors from this company via our local showroom; the bloke from the local showroom did the worktop fitting for us. They drilled out the holes in the backs of the doors for the hinges too.

Couldn't be happier with the outcome, our kitchen was old, tatty and skanky but it's lovely now

I'm just in the process of doing this. £300 to replace the doors, 125 for nice laminate worktop, 6sqm of white brick tiles with all adhesive etc cost me £100 from wickes. A family friend quoted us £60 to tile and as that's his trade I'm giving him £100. I also bought new paint, a feature wall, a blind, all new kettle and accessories and tea towels for less then £1000

That's £1000 for everything and fitting

Oh and that includes new flooring :)

Wickets are doing an offer on selected cabinet doors atm. Buy 3 doors to get the 4th free, you just prime and paint in your chosen colour.

we did this. you need to shop round lots! its a good finish and we are happy. everything was no standard size though - very odd.
an alternative is spraying or wrapping the doors

I'm in the process of doing up my cheap as chips kitchen - MDF doors where the vinyl has started to lift on the doors next to the cooker.

Have used a hairdryer to take off the rest of the coating, then painted the doors and varnished them.

Cost of a pot of paint and of varnish - and a few broken nails and some swearing when pulling off the vinyl!

My friend got a joiner to do this for her and he used these guys byba.co.uk/ba-products/kitchen-door-replacements/
Told her to go on and pick what she wanted and he got the doors from them! (Don't sell to the general public so you can't buy direct.) Totally transformed her kitchen!

i went to B@Q and it was fine until they came to survey the kitchen and it went up from £6,500 to £9,500 for a new kitchen and they said it was the preparation that had put the price up.
so it would cost £4,000 to prepare to have a kitchen worth £5,000 installed so i have not ordered one and am having new doors and a worktop and sink instead.
the thing is looking at the doors they are easy to replace and the worktop screws off the wall by removing the back fastenings so this could be done easily and could buy a new worktop and sink but plumbing in the taps could be dodgy.
might take a few hours to do the worktop and plumbing and replacing the doors so these quotes are far too high.
I have seen the before and after pictures on refurbishing a kitchen and they look great without having a new kitchen from scratch..

I do my kitchen on DIY basis . Whatever i can do myself i do . I have to say i never touch anything in the kitchen so I am new to all this . I can just decribe my own experience . I got ,,U,,Shape small kitchen . Wanted to change worktop, tiles , doors ,plinths, trim , cooker hood , paint walls , new sink and tap . I have qoutes from B&Q for my whole new kitchen £4500 , Wicks £5000 and one from kitchen fitter £5200 far too much as I know that all can be done under £2000 . I had kitchen designer in my flat , gave me 3D pics of my future new kitchen so i can think about it . Of course i wouldnt spend that money for kitchen at all not worth it .

Here are my first steps

I ordered lovley kitchen worktop 6m long with matching glue and joining b all direct from factory for £336 for same they wanted in Wicks and B&Q £670

I bought new sink from ebay for £70 with stylish tap for £24 i fitted all myself never do it before but it was easy just watched videos on youtube

4m of tiles Metro High Gloss white from Homebase £57 + tile adhesive , found tile fitter on ,,mybuilder,, website he did it for £100 . He started at 9:00am finished 18:00 for £100 thats was great price

I had qoutes only for fitting my worktop which i provided from local worktop fitters and they asked for £400 only fitting most of them said that they wont do it for less. I went on ,,mybuilder ,, website ,, posted my job that i provide worktop, glue and joining b and best quote £240 .

Bought new cooker hood from ebay with ducting kit £90

Then bought 9 sockets some doubles with usb charges all screwless from B&Q stain steal £150 bit expensive but i did it as I wanted them as they look stylish

They ordered new kitchen doors some were made to measure with edging tapes , pre-drilled hinge holes , trims , plinth and drawers fronts all together 9 doors 720mm H 300 w , 2x 720mm H , 595W from factory qoute for everything £570 all in white high gloss

Had eletritian from mybuilder website who connected and disconected all for £200

I fitted doors , trims , plinth myself .

All uder £2000 and i didnt do it in one go i did it in 4 months time as a realistic target date . That way i avoided finantial preassure .
