Good quality duvet covers

Wizadora2 · 19/04/2024 14:12

So I hope this is the correct place to post.

I’m looking for good quality duvet covers that don’t fade after a few washes. I like nice colourful covers, but they always end up looking a but meh after a while. Btw I don’t wash excessively, at 40 degrees.
I have Asda ones which fade very quickly, dunelm which I thought would be good but are only a bit better. The best I have is actually from Wilko which looks pretty good.

Where do others get theirs from? Or do you look for a particular material/finish?

Thanks!

I was only thinking yesterday how the quality of bedding has deteriorated so much recently. I bought a set from Dunelm a couple of weeks ago and it is really poor. The set I bought from Ikea is better quality but it annoys me as the sizing isn't particularly compatible with UK sized duvets. I wonder if we have to pay a lot more for better quality. However, it doesn't always follow.

Secret Linen Store or West Elm. IKEA is also quite good.

Habitat, from Argos or in Sainsburys. Pure cotton, very affordable and great designs - modern though.

CatStoleMyChocolate · 19/04/2024 14:59

We’ve found M&S and John Lewis last well - we have one from John Lewis that’s 18 years old and not too faded but not sure if the quality now will be the same as back then! IKEA are often quite good but one of ours has started to disintegrate after “only” seven years - colours still as bright as before though.

agree that dunelm bedding is poor quality for the price point. I've had to sew up holes in the seams of almost everything I've bought from there there past few years.

At the budget end of the scale, wilko bedding seemed to last well for the price paid (I believe they still sell via the range, but could be wrong). I haven't bought any from there for years, but the bedding I bought from next lasted very well.

have you had a look in tk maxx or home sense? You won't get as much choice in colours, but may find higher quality for the price paid

LovelyDaaling · 20/04/2024 20:23

Christy bed linen is excellent quality but pricey. But it lasts for years.

Summerhillsquare · 20/04/2024 20:33

Dorma is the very best around without paying Christie or Yves Delores prices. Mine is pristine after years of use. Sold in Dunelm, ironically. Often 20%off after Christmas.

BrandNewBicep · 20/04/2024 21:25

Dorma is owned by Dunelm. I don't know if that has impacted on the quality.

Wizadora2 · 21/04/2024 15:01

Ah interesting, thanks for the replies.

I haven’t tried TK maxx or the range, so might be a good move. I do like Sainsburys designs too.

I feel like M&S and John Lewis have gone downhill in quality over recent years but will have a look.
Dorma, secret linen store, west elm and Christys have been noted too!

thank you

I’m very happy with the soak & sleep quality (recommended on other threads), just wish there was more to choose from. Price not bad either as there are frequent offers.

RosyappleA · 22/04/2024 11:00

I also got my mum Christy in Tkmaxx which I love but too crisp and cool for her, she wanted something softer. Ironically I have a duvet cover for dd for 5 years now from Primark of all places, it hasn’t faded and is very colourful and looks as good as when I bought it.

ALovelyCupOfNameChange · 22/04/2024 11:02

Asda always used to be my go to and washed ridiculously well, especially considering the price.

sounds like I should stop recommending them

My Soak and Sleep bedding looked like rags after a couple of washes, plus the customer service was poor when I received a stained pillowcase. So disappointed because people do recommend them.

Bedeck have great quality bedding, you could try there. Also my white TKMaxx covers must be about 15 years old and still look new.

John Lewis bedding has been awful for me – missing buttons, buttonholes sewn shut, rapidly fraying seams, etc

I've had better luck with stuff from La Redoute.

PublicServicesShitShow · 22/04/2024 13:58

I had a good experience with Dusk recently. Online only I think

uncomfortablydumb53 · 25/04/2024 14:06

Habitat from Sainsbury's/ Argos are great quality
I buy all mine there now

OrganicAlchemy · 25/04/2024 15:34

My printed ones from habitat have stayed vibrant and very reasonably priced

ThinkingAgainAndAgain · 25/04/2024 17:12

DS has had brightly coloured bedding on his king size bed for 6+ years now. I change the bedding every two weeks, so each set must have been washed 60+ times. It hasnt faded at all, and it was the entry level range in M&S that came with two pillowcases. around £20 for the duvet set and two pillowcases at the time

geoger · 25/04/2024 17:15

Duvet covers from Next are always good and wash well. Bedeck is good too as is M&S

Mumaway · 25/04/2024 17:32

Dunelm is so poor nowadays. If you're feeling bit spendy then Christy and Harlequin have always been good. Dorma a bit pricey and can be a little old fashioned sometimes. Kip has been great for me but sometimes hard to find.
