I know this has probably been asked before but I'm based in the North West and am looking to employ a cleaner for an elderly relative who lives in a two bed, two bathroom apartment. I'd be providing all equipment and materials and it would be for 2 hours once a fortnight. I've never employed a cleaner before and am wondering how much to offer?

Are you actually employing? As in pay for employers liability insurance, holiday pay, NI, obtain safety data for the products you’re supplying?
Or will you be using the services of a self employed cleaner?

If it’s the latter, you’ll need to get quotes and see who you’d like to go with. They’ll have their own fees though so you won’t need to ‘offer’ a price.

Cleaner here, I charge £15 an hour. I'd go with a recommendation from a friend or colleague.

I'm in the same situation of looking for a cleaner for my elderly Mum, but in the NE of England. I made the mistake of contacting a cleaning company, rather than a cleaner.

They came out this week to give us a quote. She only wants the lounge, kitchen, bathroom and living room cleaning. They quoted £300 for an initial deep clean (8 hours work, apparently) then £100 for around 3 hours upkeep cleaning every 2 weeks.

They pay their workers a fair wage, holiday pay, are all DBS checked and use Method products. Fair enough, but bloody hell, that is simply not affordable.

I'm putting the feelers out on my street group chat for recommendations, as I know the going rate is roughly £20 an hour max which we would be happy to pay.
