My son's bedroom windows were filthy but after a spray of part water part vinegar and leaving to work for less than a minute they are now spotless.

wow thats something i need todo this week, what vinegar do you use?

3NAB · 30/03/2008 19:02

Distilled malt vinegar.

The main glass bit wasn't that bad but still at the colour of the kitchen paper after wiping, but along the bottom above the wood frame was bad. They look good now. I couldn't believe it was so easy, have been leaving it for ages thinking it was going to be hard to clean.

use white vinegar and it won't smell as strong

shinyshoes · 31/03/2008 17:50

I have been using this 'recipe' for years, I agree its fantastic, I use it on my glass dining table too. In the summer though it stinks,I might use pablop's suggestion of white vinegar.

if you use newspaper to polish at end this also seems to work exceptionally well
don't know why

nametaken · 31/03/2008 17:57

what proportion of vinegar do you use?

Madwelshwoman · 01/04/2008 10:21

It's the ink in the newspaper that does it, it's why you shouldn't use the glossy newspapers with all the colour photos. I think the proportion is 1 part vinegar to 10 parts water (according to Kim and Aggie it is anyway)

CountessDracula · 01/04/2008 10:22

My mum always used to do this
