Steam Cleaners

I've finally decided to buy one especially to tackle grease buildup in my kitchen but will also consider using it to clean the floors.

Some brands like Politi have good reviews but are pricey although I’d rather pay for a good one than have a non effective one.

Anyone very happy with theirs?

Yes. We've got a Vax, can't remember what it cost but not much, I'm a tightwad. The steamer unit can be used as a handheld, and it clips into the handle thing for cleaning floors. I don't like lots of cleaning chemicals, we used to have cats and a lot of stuff is poisonous to them, and anyway I don't like the smell. The handheld has been useful as a wallpaper steamer and for dried on insect gunk on our glass conservatory roof, also removal of tile adhesive from walls and under a shower base (don't ask!) but I don't use it for much else, and with the handle it's quick and easy to swoosh over vinyl and ceramic floors. You can also refresh carpets. But our house doesn't really get greasy dirt, and for that I prefer to use something like Elbow Grease to kill the grease, then I'll maybe "rinse" with the steamer. You need to be careful on anything the steam/damp will damage; whilst it does clean pretty dry, it's still too wet for stuff like laminate flooring they will blow if it gets wet down the seams.

It’s the kitchen for us that really needs keeping on top of so a powerful steamer is probably the way to go.

Will look at the Vax.
