Laundry Sheets

Has anyone tried laundry sheets instead of liquid/pods? I've read that they are more eco-friendly than even SMOL, thought I might try some out. Wondering what brand to go for? Any recommendations? DH has very sensitive, eczema prone skin, so that's something I'd want to bear in mind. I'm in the UK.

I use the unscented ones from EarthBreeze and really like them. They do a handy subscription service, where you can get them delivered automatically at a set interval (and you can delay a shipment if you don't need it yet).

Oh thanks, that's helpful, EarthBreeze was one of the suppliers I was looking at.

I find that although they're all very environmentally friendly, they don't get the dirt out.
I'm switching back to powder.

I bought some for the first time yesterday - away from home and obliged to enter an actual physical Waitrose, so stumbled upon them. Mine are Dr Beckmann Magic Leaves (Bio). They were amongst other eco brands but I haven't got round to investigating further yet. Hard to tell how effective they were as I'm using an unfamiliar machine but I think they're at least better than non-bio pods. And I was impressed with not having to carry a huge heavy box.

I normally use Ecover biological powder - works flawlessly (10 year old white towels still bright white) and causes no skin issues.

Interested in hearing others' experiences of this and other brands.

I've got the Dr. Beckmann ones and some Persil, too.
Both bio.

The Persil sheets are more effective IMO. They also smell nicer.

I used to use Tesco's biological powder, which was excellent, and I'm going back to it, because the sheets just don't get everything clean.

Are those ones eco-friendly?
I'm currently using SMOL non-bio, with the occasional squirt of Ariel on stains, but I'm wondering if the sheets are more environmentally friendly ( their advertising suggests they are).

Used breeze for over a year, get stains out fine . Why carry home mostly water products in plastic when these arrive through letterbox. So pleased when came out as before detergent companies decided to rip us off and pollute we used lux flakes which were like shredded sheets in a box.

I use Dr Beckmann ones. Very happy with them!

MojoMoon · 30/03/2024 20:07

I use these ones and find them effective on normal laundry. If I have particularly badly stained items, I either add some oxygen bleach or pre treat with stain remover on the item before washing.

I'm also using the Dr Beckmann (bio) leaves and finding them very good. And so much lighter!

Neveralonewithaclone · 31/03/2024 21:37

I use the Dr Beckmann bio and non bio. They're good but for super stinky armpits I have to add Dr Beckmann odour remover. Ds2 is allergic to most laundry stuff, but Dr Beckmann plus vinegar as a fabric softener works well.

i use this brand https://laundryleaves.co.uk/ (now called leaf) and have done so exclusively for about 18 months. Entirely eco friendly, no plastic at all in the packaging, wash very well, can also be used for handwashing so v useful to give a few to kids going on interrailing or other such trips, and you can use half or 1/4 of a sheet if you are doing a small wash. Also they take up no space at all in the laundry.

A lot of the laundry sheets are still manifactured in China (or at least outside the UK) so aren't as eco friendly as they make out, although it does still save plastic which is good. I use simple living eco which are made in Yorkshire! https://simplelivingeco.com/products/laundry-detergent-sheets

I started with Dr Beckman's and found them nice, but aren't consistently stocked where I am.

I've tried a few others, and my favourite so far is Wablu - one of the few I've seen that has a bio version and it works well for the stains and grime we have.
