Do people still love Miele cylinder vacuums?

The Miele cat and dog that mumsnet made me buy 15 years ago has seen better days. Mine is the compact one. In thinking of getting a larger version where the tools are stored inside and not clipped onto the outside. It wouldn't be the cat and dog version, but I will keep most of the attachments from the old one.

Everyone seems to have a shark nowadays. I have a dyson cordless but I think I still need a full size vacuum.

Has anyone bought one recently? I think they are lower powered than they used to be. Is it still worth buying? I don't see them mentioned very much on here now.

Forgot to say, we're using a bagless Miele. It's great!

Been using a bagless Miele for about 20 yrs.

Miele cat/dog cylinder owner here.
The best.

I love my ancient Miele. I can't remember how old it is, but it's a proper workhorse and very efficient. I can't fault it.

LegalAlienated · 21/03/2024 01:49

My Miele is 2 years old (cat and dog), suction is ok but I hate the amount of bags I go through. At least it doesn’t stink like the Dyson did.

Me and my Miele. Always and forever. ❤️

Check out the Miele outlet in Abingdon for mega bargains. If you're not near enough they publish a list of what's available each day and I'm pretty sure they deliver.

LightSpeeds · 21/03/2024 07:08

Miele is all I've used for the past 20 years. I've got two and they're great.

BroughttoyoubyBerocca · 21/03/2024 07:09

My shark lasted less than two years. I have gone for a cordless Henry

soupfiend · 21/03/2024 07:11

What do you mean by 'seen better days'.

I have one thats 15 years old, probably the same as yours, cat and dog one with the attachments on the outside. I also have one thats probably around 25 years old, that has the attachments on the inside, that is also a cat and dog one

It needs a service so isnt the best performer, so you have reminded me to get it serviced. I have no intention of getting rid though

My house is kitted out from that Outlet centre! They certainly delivered my Blizzard (bagless) cat and dog 8-10 years ago. (It replaced 2 Dysons that both died after a fairly long life).

I like being able to dismantle the dust box and filter etc to wash them. Either the humans or the cats make it a bit greasy after a few months.

I'd probably buy the same brand again, but wish they had the long-hair anti-wrap tech for the cleaning head (like Shark). I ended up buying a smaller turbo head for the stairs.

I also have a cheap stick vacuum with 2 batteries that tends to get more use. The gimmicky lights on the main cleaning head are surprisingly useful at highlighting crumbs on deep carpet and under furniture.

Curtainquandary · 21/03/2024 07:34

Miele it is then!

Seen better days means it is only working intermittently.

My Miele cat and dog bought in '97 died over a year ago, couldnt be repaired as the parts are no longer made. I was using a Henry and absolutely hated it and in a pique of rage , halfway through vaccuming , I downed tools and hit my local electrical shop and came home with a Shark Lift Away (corded)

I love the shark. Its every bit as good at lifting the hair from a pug ( sheds 24/7, 365 ) a cat and myself , as my miele was .

I doubt it will last as long as the Miele but right now its working great. Im loving that its an upright but converts to a cannister at the click of a button.

I dont think I could go back to a cannister vaccum

I've had a Sebo Felix for 14 years and it's the best vacuum I've ever had. My family rave about it when they come to stay. 😂

I’ve got a Sebo too and it’s better than my old Miele

maeveiscurious · 21/03/2024 07:48

Love ours

Yirk · 21/03/2024 07:49

Had my miele cat and dog vacuum for years and it's still is powerful, wouldn't hesitate to replace it with the same model.

Clarice99 · 21/03/2024 07:51

I love my Miele vacuums. I have a corded/bagged one which is around 15 years old and still going strong. I also have the cordless Miele Triflex for daily use. Brilliant vacuum.

I'd never buy Shark or Dyson.

OK now I want a Sebo to add to my collection. I'm easily led Grin

PiggieWig · 21/03/2024 08:33

Stick with Meile. I got a shark too but I prefer the Meile by miles. I’m forever untangling the shark, and hardly ever use it.
