Do Washing machine balls instead of detergent work?

And where do you get them? How do they work, anyway? We do so much laundry that we must have polluted whole rivers with detergent - I'd love to do without it.

I'm a convert to these, my Mum bought me some off a shopping channel and I certainly won't be going back to washing powder. I think they worked out at approx. £35 for 3 and then can last up to 18 mths each so 4 and a half years for all of them.
I can't actually tell you HOW they work but they do. (And I use 30 degree washes too).

Is it really different from just using water though?

No they don't - there's no reason why they should work.

Some pound shops do them for a pound.

Have a read here before you make your mind up about trying them.

I get mine from Lakeland and they seem to work.

Very interesting article, traceukw1,though!

I think I'll still use the washball as I do at the momentfor clothes that just need a quick refreshingand save the premium detergent for other things that need a more thorough going-ver.

Thanks for the link.
