I have superglued my ceramic lamp to the wooden kitchen work surface. How do I get it off without damaging either?!

Lol. How the blooming heck have you managed that ?!

I suppose the answer is some sort of solvent.

mankymummy · 26/03/2008 10:06

well... i laid it down to try and glue on the bit that DS chipped off, left it to dry and some of the glue must have run down. Doh!

Love the fact that you felt it belonged in GOOD housekeeping!

YEs, solvent would be good. Not one that going to strip your wooden work surface though.

fryalot · 26/03/2008 10:07

snuuuurk

oops

(sorry)

mankymummy · 26/03/2008 10:08

what about nail polish remover with acetone in as that is a solvent put loads all at the base

mankymummy · 26/03/2008 10:15

ah... DS just wrenched the lamp off of the worksurface. so problem solved.

however, i have another problem...

How do i remove the glaze from the lamp that is stuck to the worksurface and patch up the bit that is now unglazed on the lamp?!!

e-mail whoever makes superglue and ask them?

NomDePlume · 26/03/2008 10:16

I'd go to somewhere like B&Q or a small hardware shop where they sell the solvents. The staff should be able to give you some advice.

NomDePlume · 26/03/2008 10:16

TBH, I'd just bin the lamp !

foxythesnowman · 26/03/2008 10:18

A squirt of WD40 might help (my answer to everything).

You have tried warm soapy water haven't you?

No ideas about the glaze on the lamp though.

mankymummy · 26/03/2008 10:19

BIN?! the lamp? Im pathologically incapable of throwing anything away. Can't i make something out of it?!

will try varnish remover first for the worksurface.

lol

mankymummy · 26/03/2008 10:26

hm.... tried the nail varnish remover and now have fluffy sticky patch with glaze still pretty much untouched underneath.

Should have used a cloth and not cotton wool balls I think!
