Removing mud stains from clothes

Looking for help please. My son wore a tracksuit out today - grey with a white stripe. Got covered in mud and it's stained the white stripe. Anything I can do to remove it? Tracksuit is dark grey so reluctant to soak it in stain remover as it may run but to be honest it's ruined anyway!

Thank you!

Old fashioned soda crystals worked when this happened to DS1s white rugby kit, which was completely covered. I soaked them in a fairly strong solution I think overnight and then washed them on a hot wash ( this was a synthetic fabric not cotton so shrinkage not an issue).

I'd probably soak it in a bucket with a handful of biological washing powder. Just the soaking will help loosen the mud particles from the fibres, which means it's more likely to wash out when it goes through the machine.

You need temperature, a good detergent, time and agitation.

So if you wet it, rub a bar of laundry soap on it and work it in gently with a brush. Then put it in a long hot wash and it should come up just fine.

Thank you! I put it through a second wash and it looks like it's a bit better, but still pretty grimy. I'll give it all a go as it would be a shame to relegate a new tracksuit to a muddy day outfit so soon. He's got a collection of primark trackies for days like this, but it was a last minute decision when we were out, hence the poor outfit choice.

Use a laundry bar soap (or any bar soap), wet the bar and rub onto the stained area. Leave it like that for a few hours, or even overnight. Then wash as normal.

This works a treat on whites too.

I would let the mud dry then use a stiff brush to get rid of the obvious dirt, before soaking.

Use Ariel, haven't you seen the advert with the cyclists?

You tracksuit bottoms will come out pure white, dry and IRONED.

I swear that advert contravenes the trading standards!
