I have a SMEG hob and oven which is now 20 years old. The oven is faulty, it takes an age to heat up, doesn’t reach required temperature so everything cooks slowly/ doesn’t brown etc. it makes awful gurgling like sounds while on. Got someone out, it was £160 and they have quoted £250 to change the heating element and thermostat. I’m just wondering if this is worth it or we should bite the bullet and get a new one, which will be about £1000 plus no doubt delivery and fitting costs. We’re thinking of moving in 2 years. Is it normal to take your cooker with you when you move? Thanks for any advice.
