Henry or Shark?

I’m in the market for a new vacuum cleaner.

I already own a shark which has been ok but despite cleaning the filters doesn’t clean like it used to and I find it’s a bit top heavy. I have a disability so I already find vacuuming hard work.

I have a cleaner to help things along for once a month and she uses a Henry. That seems to leave the carpet looking cleaner but I wonder how you manage to clean the stairs with it? I’m never here when she comes so I can’t see.

Does it get right in the corners? It will need to be good on pet hair and how does it work on stairs? Is it bulky and annoying and am I going to find it a struggle to pull around?
Do you have to buy bags for it?

all pros and cons gladly received!

''Loathe his smug face peeking round the corner mocking me.'' {Henry}

😂

They loose suction really quick and they are just generally awful!
we only have a few short pile carpets and they don’t seem to look like they’ve been hoovered after we’ve done them,
in a care setting

That's really surprising to read especially to have it happen with multiple Henrys. There's many problems with the round unstable smiley bugger but I genuinely wouldn't have put losing suction on that list especially against a low pile carpet.

I'm so curious as to where you work and how the fluff you and your colleagues have managed to break multiple Henry's.

Possibly a Livery yard for mucking out the horses on shavings.... 😂{My son used a Henry for hoovering up chain morticer wood shavings and Henry guzzled the lot.

For those with the Shark complaining about the suction, any of you use the vent?

I have a pug who sheds hair just looking at him, and hes allowed on the sofa on a throw. I can put the throw on the floor and vacuum it without it being sucked into the Shark just by opening the vent. Even fully open it copes with pet hair

So used to seeing Flora or Daisy or whatever as I scroll that I found myself considering Shark as a possible name.

I had three Miele cat and dog vacuum cleaners, but not sure why I always managed to kill the motor after a few years, they are great but it got expensive. Our house is big and on lots of levels but I think being on for long periods is not the best idea (I always vacuum the house in a single session), I got the Henry Pet and actually like it, it is good on cat fur. Admittedly, it doesn't have a great variety of suction settings but it's a work horse, the attachments are good. But the best vacuum cleaner I've used was a Bosch at a holiday house in France, I seriously coveted that thing.

Massive price upgrade too! X

Not a Shark.

My aunt bought one on the advice of the carer who can do no long (unlike the niece who knows nothing).

The other carer demanded a better hoover. I bought a miele (which is what I've have done if initially consulted and have been saying to my aunt for about 15 years. In which time she has owned two Dysons and then the shark. For comparison in that time I've always owned Miele - all of my hoovers are still working but other family members keep stealing them from me so I'm on my third).

Then first carer admitted that actually she preferred the miele too so the Shark is now looking for a new home....

I’ve currently got a shark liftaway. In the past I’ve had a Miele cylinder and a Sebo Felix.

I’ve also had a Henry. Useless on my carpets, did a decent job on laminate but so does a brush. The worst vacuum cleaner I’ve ever had - if someone has a Henry I prefer to leave my shoes on. I went further than the pp and used to kick his smug smiling face because he was gloating that he’d wasted my money. In the end I left him in the garden in a massive rainstorm. That killed him. No regrets.

If you want a bagged cylinder then get a Miele. If you want an upright then sebo for bagged is unbeatable and shark for unbagged. If you want slightly dirty floors, gritty carpets and damage to your skirtings and door frames it’s got to be a Henry .
