Advice needed - mildew!! How to rid my closet of it?

Hi there - looking for some advice from the "MN Hive".. I live in a very old house, 1500's.. In one room there's a large Victorian wardrobe and I use it for all my outdoor coats, handbags and luggage. I rarely go in there - tending to keep more regularly used things in my bedroom. Despite putting a dehumid. that room, overtime, I can't seem to stop a white mold/mildew building up on some of the bags/luggage and clothes that are stored in the wardrobe. I've tried cleaning the whole thing down with white vinegar and rinsing off with warm soapy water, which does remove it, but not for keeps. Can only assume that it's growing in there because of lack of air circulating plus that end of the house is much damper than the other end. Have been looking at anti-mold/anti-bac drawer liners, wondering if they would help? Any advice greatly received. TIA

I would burn the wardrobe and start over with a new one as it is likely riddled with the mould.

Don’t sell it or give it to charity as you’d be passing the problem on to some poor blighter spending what is a fortune for them.

When you get a new one, don’t close the doors all the way and don’t put anything even slightly damp in it.

Remove everything from the wardrobe and give it a good clean with a propriety mould cleaner. Let it dry out. Dont forget the rail and coat hangers

You will have mould spores imbedded in the clothes so everything that can be washed or dry cleaned - do so. Even if they look mould free at that time.

Handbags and shoes, if they can be wetted, use the spray.. You may end up having to say good by to a few items but most can be saved

Never ever put anything in the wardrobe that isnt 100% dry. Dont over pack the wardrobe, you need air to circulate

I had this last year. I was poorly for a couple of years ( as in extreme depression ) wasnt coping and had just been shoving laundry into the wardrobe all higgly piggly , time I got well enough to tackle it, mould galore. I treated as above and not had a problem since
