Can anyone help me?? I am going away on Monday and will have other people in my car, I have a 7 seater and the whole car is filled with pet hair which I cannot get off. I hoovered it for 40 minutes today and used a lint roller but it will not come off. HELP.. I cannot have other people getting covered in hair.

What hoover do you have?

IF you can get hold of an Animal Dyson, that might work... I have a labrador and that's what I use - it has a special tool which is great at taking up dog hair...

Alternatively, take it to a valet place... Most multistory car parks have them now... Inside and out will cost about £20 (well, it does here, in North London) and they do a super job...

Hi I have a Dyson.

What I used to do was use the dog's hairbrush to brush the seats. Takes ages but works.

DH has just told me that he uses a wet towel to get hair off fabric seats... I've never tried that, but DH is a fussy b*gger

...use sticky strips of sticky back plastic (or sellotape but that takes forever!)
Meile "cat and dog" vacuum cleaner is the best for hair
Or damp, textured cloth/towel and grub it all out that way

Desiderata · 22/03/2008 17:46

Yes, a wet cloth or sponge is the easiest and most effective way of removing hairs.

Don't scrub, just use a sweeping motion.

Have you got a Dyson pet hair remover - you can buy the attatchment and it works brilliantly. Before we got it we had the Dirt Devil Pet Hair remover and that was brilliant too. Before we went automated we used lint rollers

BecauseImWoeufIt · 22/03/2008 18:01

Baby wipes work as well.

Thanks all, I have tried lint rollers and maybe the one I used was just useless as it did not a lot. I have just been out with a rubber glove on and 'swept' up as much as I could, it is better than it was but will maybe try again tomorrow. Hopefully the rest of the hair will take fright and move for me. lol

I use sellotape too (or parcel tape's very good) - wrap a length around your outstretched hand till your hand is covered (with sticky side out obviously or it would be pointless), and sweep back and forth.

schneebly · 23/03/2008 22:26

do you have one of those rubber sweeping brushes? They really grab the hair

Pippo · 23/03/2008 22:26

wipe over with rubber gloves?

Sal22 · 23/03/2008 22:30

Hi. I second the sticky tape advice - take heavy duty masking tape (the widest you can buy - from B&Q for example) - if takes a bit longer, but works great. I normally use my Dyson for large areas and then finish it off with sticky tape if still needed or for difficult to reach areas. Good luck.

I swear by wet rubber gloves. Put gloves on, dip in water, shake off excess, rub surface of seat with palm of hand vigorously until hair balls up. Repeat.

Sticky stuff is good but not practical for v large surfaces imo.
