Ants in house

A few weeks ago I cleaned out a white yoghurt pot and left it upside down to dry. I was very surprised when I picked it up a few hours later to pop in recycling and I saw about 3 ants crawling inside it.

I forgot all about it until this morning, when I went to put on my white trainers and there were 4 or 5 ants crawling over them.

I keep the house clean and tidy. I’ve never had this problem before (if it is a problem). Should I try and get rid of them? I have no idea where they’re coming from.

They are probably scouting around for food if the warmer weather has woken them.
A few drops of this in a milk carton lid around the place you’ve seen them will get rid. It may encourage more to come initially, as they love the taste, but they take it back to the nest and kill the rest. You want to get rid before they decide to nest in your house. DGM had an awful time with ants nests in her home under the floor.

I had an issue with them in the kitchen once. I bought some of those ant killer trap things, unscrewed the fascia boards at the bottom of the kitchen units and slid them underneath, to keep them safe and away from pets. It did the trick.

They must be coming inside from somewhere, so check around and under door frames for tiny gaps, and around air bricks outside.
