Do good tumble dryers exist??

Hello,

This time of year having a 4yo, 11mo and a messy DH is honestly painful as, I’m having to dry clothes indoors but, it takes forever and takes over the whole house. We use our tumble dryer for socks, bedding etc but, it shrinks any clothing we try to put in it. It's fairly new (2/3years) and wasn't overly cheap but, it's the second one we have got and both did the same.

Can anyone recommend a decent tumble dryer which will completely dry clothing without boiling it to death or shrinking it?

Thanks ☺️

We have this one. Not cheap but I reckon it’ll pay for itself in time due to its efficiency and NOT having a “crispy” setting like my old one had, which sounds similar to yours

In my previous house I had the space to have a separate washing machine and dryer - over the years I had two vented dryers with a sensor both by White Knight. I can honestly say I never had any clothes damaged or shrunk. Since moving house (downsized) I now have an LG washer dryer and have damaged/shrunk a number of things. I now only use the normal temperature setting for towels, then use the delicate setting for other 'normal' items. Anything I consider delicate like jumpers etc I use the Drysoon air capsule. Much preferred my vented dryer with the sensor 🙁

I have a Samsung heat pump dryer, I went with their best model and got a great deal on their website with the matching washer. Honestly it's fantastic, costs buttons to run, doesn't heat the room up because the heat is recycled and is quicker and much quieter than my old condenser dryer.

Yes, we have a heat pump one too, and it's nothing like the condenser it replaced. Clothes don't shrink, it's not like a sauna in the utility, and it's a lot cheaper per load (although expensive to buy so will take years to earn its keep).

Heat pump is what you want - they work on dehumidifying the air in the dryer rather than heating it up.
We've got a cheapie from Currys (with a 5 year warranty we paid extra for) and it takes a while, but does the job without shrinking things.

I would think you are either drying clothes that aren't supposed to be dried or using the wrong setting. I've not shrunk anything. We have a cheap as chips Beko condenser drier and it dries everything lovely. Just done my silk blouses and pillow cases on eco dry and they were done in 20 minutes. No need to iron anything either
