Limescale on Matt black shower caddy’s

We have some matt black shower caddys we bought from Amazon in the last 6 months or so. We live in a very hard water area and the limescale has really built up on them but it won’t budge no matter what I’ve try!

I’ve tried spraying it in viakal and leaving it for ages then scrubbing, steam cleaning and even soaking it in hot water and a dishwasher tablet.

Does anyone have any advice on how to get rid? 🥹

I used to go school with Matt Black. That aside citric acid is what you need..soak for a few hours.

Soak in white vinegar but dilute it a bit. Citric acid too. Also test a small area first. If they fail have a look at Hagesen Hagesan (?)products.

Took me ages to realise you weren’t talking about a to show with a character called Matt Black with a dirty shower 🤪
Anyway, as above, try citric acid or vinegar. Vinegar worked wonders on my grotty avocado suite.

😂😂 whoops! Thanks for the advice everyone I’ve got white vinegar star drops spray will try that and then citric acid. Will report back on how I get on ☺️

Does it come off the wall?

Worriedmumofone1 · 01/02/2024 21:04

@Moganthemog do you mean whether the caddy’s come off the wall?

In any case thank you all so much! Did a soak on one part as a test and it’s come up really well, might need to repeat and/or strengthen the machine (used approx 2 tbsp to 1 litre of water). So glad I have a way to clean these now! 😍

Wondering if any of you know how I can prevent it building up so often too? Thank you

Give it a rub over with white vinegar twice a week when you clean the bathroom.

I'm quite impressed with Method's shower daily spray.

Oh looks good. Is that using white vinegar? I use citric acid for most of my limescale..kettle, toilet..would ideally love to install a water softner

Worriedmumofone1 · 02/02/2024 09:20

@Ilovemyshed thanks for the recommendation! I love method stuff! As much as I love cleaning I’m not sure I can be bothered to take all the shower products out to spray it twice a week though 🙊

@Moganthemog that was the citric acid! Vinegar did bugger all. Ah we’d love to as well but only rent so not sure it would be worth doing.

Water softeners are fabulous.

Try the Harpic toilet cleaner in the black bottle with limescale remover. It gets rid of timescale. I use it on my taps every now and then and it always works.

Ilovemyshed · 02/02/2024 17:01

@Worriedmumofone1 you dont have to take the products out, just spray those too.

Whataretalkingabout · 02/02/2024 22:00

I use boiling hot vinegar for my lime scaled toilets. The lime melts away and cleans my kettle at the same time.

TiaraBoomDA · 13/08/2024 18:49

Yes Viakal and vinegar both help with the limescale that you can see. I'm considering installing Aquabion to keep all the pipes clear too. Has anyone here taken this route? Does it work? Is it worth the expense?
