Dying towels with Dylon........

Hi. I have some towels i am going to dye tonight. Am buying the dylon in a bit, it comes in a bag and is like a powder and I am wondering how many towels I will get away with dying. They are white towels that I want to dye brown.

Can you weigh them? There's usually a guide to the amount of fabric that can be dyed per box inside the dylon box.

I have done this loads of times and find that they always say you can only put certain amount in per box of Dylon. I always dye more than they recommend and have never been disappointed. Esp with towels which dye really well and easily.

word of warning - sometimes the stitching thread is polyester and doesn't dye. Doesn't necessarily look dreadful but not exactly right either.

there's a way of telling if it's polyester (by burning it?) but I'm afraid I'm a bit vague on the detail..

If you put more in (as long as you don't stuff in so many that they are jammed together) all that will happen is that they will be a lighter brown.

Ok so didn't buy it the other day. It sayd dye up to 1kg and it will come out a lighter shade of brown. So how many towels do we reckon in one wash? I was just going to do 2 towels but seemd like a waste and want to put more in!

I think towels might be heavier than you think - 2 towels is prob 1 kg..

What size towels? I think I'd bee inclined to do 2 bathsheets, or 2 standard bathtowels and a handtowel, or 4 hand towels.
