General clean vs deep clean

My lovely cleaner / housekeeper will be leaving in a month so am in the hunt for a new one. Please could someone explain a deep clean vs general clean?
My house is generally clean and tidy. But for example i wont descale the shower screen regularly or clean behind furniture, wipe all the photos etc

So I am assuming i will need a weekly deep clean? Because a general clean will be just the stuff I do.

There is also a price difference between a deep clean and general clean. As the work is harder/more intense. However this implies that a deep clean will take the same amount of time as a general clean. But I would imagine a deep clean will take longer. In which case why would a cleaner charge more for a deep clean?

My current cleaner just do whatever that needs doing including change bedding/ inside of kitchen drawers etc and if it takes longer i pay her more or she sometimes gets less done which i don't mind

Hopefully there will be some cleaners on here that can explain

You won’t need a weekly deep clean, they should be done perhaps twice a year or at the start of a new cleaning person coming in. Most cleaners won’t pull furniture out unless it’s easily movable or wash down tiles, for the shower screen if you use a wiper blade then that should keep it streak free, finish off with glass cleaner.
a deep clean is generally done with more cleaners or over more hours, it’s a totally different thing to a normal clean but best to tell any new cleaner what you would like to always be done and ask if they change bedding or clean tiles etc, I’d say cleaning an inside of a drawer is unusual for a lived in house.

Thanks for your reaponse @Unicorntastic. So, it's not realistic to expect them to move beds and clean underneath on a regular basis?

Everything you’ve described is what a cleaner should do as standard, but rarely does. It’s actually really hard to find a cleaner who does all that routinely.

I'm a cleaner. I won't move a bed to clean underneath it as they're usually really heavy but I don't charge a different rate for a deep clean. It just takes longer, so it'll cost more because of that. Shower screens should be done every time though and don't fall into the deep clean category.

I do it routinely. Windows, skirting, door frames, tiles etc all get done by me I'd say every other or every 3rd week. I move furniture like sofas about once a month (sometimes more, sometimes less often). I clean under beds if they're raised but I don't move big divans simply because they're just so heavy.

I find that. Our first cleaner was great at first but then got sloppy. Our new cleaner is better but still misses the odd thing but she's lovely and we can't let her go.

@Ebokebok are you a cleaner? If so bet your clients love you!
