Non bio powder or stain remover for babies clothes

I popped round to see DM today. My DB and SIL were staying with their 10 week old baby and 5 year old son before Christmas before heading off to stay with SIL’s parents a few hours away over Christmas. They’re coming back to DM’s house for a few days just after New Years Day before DNephew starts school.

DM offered to wash some baby gros and leggings but they’re stained with what looks like poo. I wouldn’t give them back to SIL like that they’ve got a small flat and things take ages to dry there.

I said she should wash them again. DM uses Persil non bio liquid but on a 30 degree wash or Ecover.

What can she get which will clean them? I suggested Dettol liquid which looks non bio and works on low temperatures. And maybe add a scoop of stain remover like Vanish. I was looking for Shout spray which was really good in Savers but couldn’t see it. Biotex is long gone too (unless you’re in the Netherlands). DM doesn’t like using bio detergent or washing powder (Victorian drains prone to blocking).

If it comes to it I can wash the clothes at my place. I use Ecover too. Thinking of using Dettol liquid or Fairy clothes liquid but someone online said they’d changed formulation this or last year and not for the better.

I would soak them in white vinegar and baking soda and then put into 60C wash with non-bio. With my DDs baby clothes often stains wouldn't come off in 30 or 40C so I put them in 60C and they got clean.

After having trouble with a really stubborn stain, I wax recommended Surf which worked. I'd try that at 60 but add in an extra rinse or two.

I'd rub the stains with washing up liquid or laundry soap before rewashing. Powder works best as they have bleaches in them that liquids don't. You can get non bio powders

I’ve got some Napisan as I heard that worked and I’ve ordered some Daz liquid online.

I did read rubbing the stains worked and googling for this stain sunlight helps bleach them out, but hardly any sun here!

Stick them on the line for a day or so. Even winter sun (and rain) will help. Id avoid any harsh products

Yea sunlight does have a wonderful bleaching affect on stains but if you're in the UK the baby will have grown out of the outfits long before we have enough sun Sad

I don’t have a line and neither does DM but we both have a drier which we sometimes put outside. My garden does seem to get more sun than DM’s (because of where it faces?) so will try mine. I just feel strange giving the items back to my SIL obviously stained.

I’ll see if I’m going to go and get the items and wash them or see if DM will do it.

@Dynamoat I’m now thinking of just soaking the items and rubbing with eg some Ecover. I found some Vanish soap and Vanish gold in my cupboard.
