There are so many to choose from and is it better to have the solid doors rather than the glass doors, is it easier to clean the solid ones?

ooh yes i want to know this too. We are looking at the Toledo range at the mo. I really want 6 rings though and this only has 5

sorry that didn't help you at all did it?

Um, in our lovely little terrace we were left by prev owners a dual fuel Leisure cooker with glass doors, its at least 25 years old and we're still using it! But the glass doors do look a bit of a bugger when they get mucky!

liahgen · 16/03/2008 19:37

yeh, i am going for solid doors, but then I am a slummy mummy

Trix11 · 16/03/2008 19:39

Liahgen the professional plus has six burners, not sure about the elan. Does anyone know if the elan is the supreme cooker/range?

I am definately getting the black whichever we choose as I can't be polishing doors all day.

Went to Wickes today to see how the kitchen planner had done our plan and they were charging 2 grand for the cooker!! 500 quid less in homebase so internet shpopping is looking good.

Trix11 · 16/03/2008 19:45

I am definitely getting black too. B&Q now do appliances and will price match any price apparently as well as giving you a further 10% discount - although I need to check that.

ooh yes actually i remember we were told that.
Got them coming in week to do their plan.

Full quote from Wickes was £8,000 not including fitting, floor and lighting!! Just a tad more than I had expected, we don't live in a mansion

Im getting kitchen separate from howdens, going to source my own appliances and worktops, hoping not to go over 8k.

What was it about the toledo that you particularly liked?

OP posts:
liahgen · 16/03/2008 19:55

I liked the layout of the ovens and the grill bit is slightly higher. Also I like the fact that it looks a bit more old fashioned iyswim.

I haven't heard of Howdens, is it online?

Trix11 · 16/03/2008 19:58

Yes but I cant do links - they sell to MFI and builders direct as well as some other well known companies whose names I cant think of.

Just got the Toledo 90 in gunmetal grey and am delighted with it.

I live in a hard water area and the grey is the least difficult to keep clean.

The glass door does get mucky and you can't see much through it anyway, so if you're a slummymuumy go for the black and solid doors.

Mine, I think, is like this one from Trade Appliances which was about the most competitively priced when we got one about 3 yrs ago:
