Hi! Just wanted to ask all you FLYers - does it really work? I have a SN ds1 who's just turned 3 and a 9 month old. Our house is a tip. We have a cleaner but can only afford it every fortnight and really she doesn't do a very good job, and fortnightly is not enough! I am a SAHM but seem to be out at appointments, therapies or filling in flipping forms all the time or I'm just too tired to do any housework really. But We could really do with ditching the cleaner and I function much better in a clean house and hate how it is now. Do you think FLYlady will help, do you get motivated and then get in the habit? Does it take long to see results because I'm terrible at sticking to something unless I see changes!!

fly lady is working for me so far, i've only done the kitchen (just started this week) and it looks tonnes better. i think the routine of doing things really works for me.
have had my bro round for dinner, and only just put dc to bed.the dishes were washed but not dried and put away, was gonna ignore them til morning, buti need to shine my sink and can't if dishes are on it, so makes me stick at the cleaning!
give it a try- what do you have to loose?

I think the main problem with FLY is the flippin emails she bombards you with. I had a half-hearted look at the site 3 years ago and I still get 2 or 3 emails a week!

That said, there are some useful ideas.

The clear sink is a good trick - if you don't have a dishwasher, put a bowl for unwashed cups etc in cupboard under sink. that way your kitchen surfaces look much less cluttered and it encourages you to keep kitchen tidier.
Do things in 20 min bursts - you can get a lot done in 20 mins if dc are sleeping/watching a dvd etc.
Concentrate on a room at a time - firstly to get them sorted (this may take a few days per room to begin with)

I have been lurking around the Fly threads this week and it does seem to be working for me. Almost enjoying the cleaning - which worries me rather.
One major concern though - before I throw myself into this completely - I absolutely and utterly refuse to wear that "vest" that they are trying to flog. Who the hell could "Finally Love Yourself" wearing that???? I would finally top myself before going anywhere near it!

you wear clothes to do housework?- do it without, saves so much washing and therefor less ironing!

thanks - I started slowly today and wore shoes! It actually worked I was quite surprised! But now I've driven 3 and a half hours today to take DS1 to 2 hours of intensive therapy, played with DS2 in the car of all places for most of those 2 hours as it was pouring and we had no where else to go and the thought of shining my sink is just not appealing!! Especially as DH is away. Hmmm - I should do it though - I will feel better

The sink has bleach in it so I've come back for more inspiration! Do you get to the decluttering part with the baby steps? I think that is my real problem area - everything is just such a mess, but if i try to tackle it all at once I just give up!
