hello

what do you do? there seem to be a lot of things you can buy out there, but very expensive and/or bulky to store...

thanks for tips

Airbed - about 10-£20 for a double which can be inflated with a hairdryer, so sits in teh bottom of wardrobe when unused

We got a foam stool thing from Tchibo which folds out into a bed. Very handy and stores under the kids beds. Was just over £30 I think. They change their stock weekly, but these do turn up every so-often.

SMSSW

what make of airbed is it? we had one (an old one admittedly, maybe they don't last long) which could be inflated by a footpump but then deflated..

can anyone recommend a reliable brand?

will check out Tchibo Aero, thanks

Ours is Gelert I think. It does deflate a bit overnight so you have to pump it up really well, but not as much as our old really cheap one.

Coleman do one which supposedly has a double valve system which guards against delation - they had them for about £20 in Go outdoors which is a budget camping chain - but you would have to use a foot/electric pump. That one also had 2 seperate chambers.

Ikea do some fold up beds for £25 - they are actually very comfortable - you could probably store them in a wardrobe or under a bed. Link here:

Aerobed as sold in John Lewis and Argos I believe. They fold away in a small duffel bag and they self inflate and deflate. Used to have a common or garden air bed which was serviceable but people actually enjoy sleeping on the Aerobed. Worth the £80 I spent on it.

These are great and can be zipped together to make double beds.

WendyWeber · 17/03/2008 11:52

Children don't actually need beds because they are so light and squidgy - they would be fine on a camping mat

(You can get self-inflating ones but they tend to cost c £15-20 - Lidl have them in sometimes)

WendyWeber · 17/03/2008 11:53

Also they can't fall off a camping mat

GooseyLoosey · 17/03/2008 11:54

Would second a cheap airmattress. Have never thought of blowing it up with a hairdryer - will give that a try!

TheDevilWearsPenneys · 17/03/2008 12:02

When I went to sleepovers we were happiest in sleeping bags on the floor. I don't recall anyone sleeping in a bed.

ColumboGoesBananas · 17/03/2008 20:52

Ha ha! Have only just realised you meant kids - misread title. Heck, the Aerobed would be too good for those varmints. Flop out Z-bed from Ikea or Argos.

When I was little we used to sleep top and tail like sardines for sleep overs - we used to stay up most of the night messing about anyway, and often ended up on the floor as per PP.

We bought a single airbed from tesco for £5 a few weeks ago.
