Washing machine tumble drier combo or washing machine and heated drier

My washer drier has died. I don't have a heap of money to replace it with. Do I buy a washer/dryer? Or get a washing machine and a heated clothes horse? Any recommendations at all? Approx spend less than £500?

Will you be able to dry out of doors for much of the year? The only trouble with drying indoors is the increased humidity in the air, which might cause condensation problems.

I love in a windy costal area so technically could dry outside.. I just work too much to be able to put it out / bring it in. Was hoping could just use clothes horse / heated clothes horse indoors. Don't have space for a seperate washing machine and drier

I love my heated clothes horse. I have the largest Lakeland one with the cover, got it when they were on offer. Clothes dry overnight, even heavy jumpers and jeans etc. I do like the tumble drier for bed sheets and towels but that's the only thing I use it for.

W machine and dehumidifier

Does the dryer deal with the condensation?

I have had two washer/driers over the years and they have both been useless. They both washed ok, but the drying was nothing like as good as a stand alone tumble dryer, and a wash-dry cycle took literally hours. .

GrumpyPanda · 04/11/2023 12:29

Would you have space for both if you stack one on top.of the other?

confusedlots · 04/11/2023 12:41

@tobee no issues with condensation, although we also have an MVHR ventilation system which helps to remove any excess moisture from the air.

Washing machine, normal clothes airer and a dehumidifier.

Thank you @confusedlots

100% washing machine and dehumidifier. Don't spend a fortune on a washing machine. Just get one with a good spin. If you can, once the wash is finished put it on a spin cycle - the extra spin will really make a difference to how wet your clothes are. Then hang on an airer near a dehumidifier. This is what I've been doing for years and I'd never be without it now. Cheap to run and good for your indoor environment too. Win win

I've had a washer dryer in the last and it was absolutely useless. I'd definitely get a washing machine and heated clothes horse. It'll also be much cheaper to run.

My just died too, and I just bought the one below from curries. I wouldn’t want to be without one
