Converting Aga to electric eControl

Has anyone on here converted their Aga to electric?

We have inherited a gas Aga which we absolutely adore but would like to run it on renewable energy (we have a solar installation and large battery storage).

There appear to be two options, one is called Electrikit and the other is eControl which is slightly more expensive to fit. It’s quite a financial commitment so I just wanted to see if anyone has done this?

Thank you

Hello. Maybe this reply is a bit late and you’ve already made a decision regarding your Aga….but, yes, I have converted my 13amp electric Aga and have chosen the eControl system.
I used a well know business based in the South West near Bath.

Having inherited the Aga with the house purchase 9 years ago, I found cooking with the Aga was straightforward and simple. However, recent astronomical rises in electricity prices made me decide to undertake the conversion and I’m broadly pleased with the results. ( please note that I also have a Miele traditional oven plus a two ring induction hob. I am grateful for these as I would not want to rely purely on the Aga for all of my cooking, especially in the summer months.)

My reality is that the conversion does not produce quite the same results as the old Aga, but it is very close. In my experience, the choice of temperature is crucial to produce the best results but a slow cook is possible at the Eco setting that has produced some tasty and spectacular results. (Slow open roasts with vegetables in one roasting tray included.)

Whilst I am having to re-learn how to use the new “Aga” oven system, I have no regrets in spending the significant sum that the conversion cost. In the winter months, the electricity saving is as much as £250 each month.

My only piece of advice, if you go ahead with the conversion, is that you need to plan ahead carefully with putting the oven on in good time to get it up to cooking temperature. I also find that the time it takes to reach a stable cooking temperature can be a bit longer than the guide times. Experimentation was crucial for me to find the best setting for different meals etc.

Thank you for the response, much appreciated. Our oven will be converted by B&B in two weeks.
