We have a Vax but it’s not good. Just been quoted a hideous amount to return our greying sofa back to its orginal cream colour. Stair carpets too.

Is it worth buy a steam cleaner? What does anyone recommend? Or hire one?

I have a steam cleaner, and personally felt quite underwhelmed by it. It wasn't the miracle cleaning appliance that I thought I was being sold.

Oh! Maybe I’ll look at hiring a big one at HSS

I find Rug Doctor hire quite effective, though the upholstery bit isn't as good as the carpet bit.

If getting someone in, I find it more cost effective to get them to do several rooms. From the quotes I got sofas are relatively expensive to get done in isolation, but adding in carpets on top doesn't add that much to the price.

It was £300 for 2 sofas, one carpet and some stairs😬

I have a Karcher Puzzi 10/1 which does carpets and upholstery. I also have a steam cleaner.

Karcher have an outlet centre where you can get a puzzi for around £300 but they come in and out of stock. It can take water up to 60° too, and I've found it to be excellent.
