Toilet limescale? I’m not sure

Hi,

first time posting here so apologies if I miss any details etc.
Ive recently moved into a rental property and was pretty shocked at the state of the toilet - first I thought it was a ‘worn away’ toilet (whatever that means!!) but have been told it’s probably stained limescale due to hard water. There’s a brown ‘layer’ underneath the water line. I’ve tried harpic, vinegar, HG toilet renovation kit etc. and scrubbing and I can’t seem to chip away at this!

I just wanted to attach a photo so anyone could kindly tell me if this does actually look like ‘stained limescale’ or I’m scrubbing for nothing!

thanks so much in advance

Mix a whole box of citric acid with warm water in a jug and pour slowly in. Leave overnight.

You might not be using enough chemical to remove it. Harpic etc is fine to manage the limescale once you’ve dealt with the existing problem.
As above, use a lot of whatever you choose, and leave it overnight.
I would try to get rid of as much residual water ass possible, pour in a bottle of vinegar, leave overnight, and then go at it with a green scratchy sponge the next day. You could try scraping it with a knife /flat screwdriver, but it might cause scratch marks.
I once had to use a chisel to remove inch thick limescale from a rental property. It looked good as new afterwards.

I had this in a rental property once and it was limescale but I had to get almost all the water out in order to tackle it (because the water obviously just dilutes whatever product you’re using). You can ‘plunge’ with a loo brush to push most of the water down and round the bend and then bail any remaining water out. Then cover it all in Viakal or similar, leave for ages and then get scrubbing with a scourer or wire brush.

If it's really bad you might need a toilet pumice

Definitely remove the water and then put a bottle of Harpic X10 all over the limescale. Leave overnight and then brush whilst you flush the toilet.

Thanks all, I’ll try again with the water removed! 😩😩 fingers crossed
