I’d be inclined to kill them and worry about what they were later.
They aren’t fleas, but flea killer like this will probably work:

Googling suggests carpet beetle larvae.

minipie · 04/10/2023 13:38

Yep carpet beetle larvae seems to fit best

Looks a bit like ‘Hide Beetle ‘ larva to me. So maybe not that one, but some sort of beetle offspring.

I agree , it doesn’t look quite right for a bed bug to me. Ps the photo below is just a link, not an image of what your wee things will grow into 😱

Omg thanks all! Awful. Does it need an exterminator???

Would think that would depend on how many there are and whether there is damage. I read on them ( you inspired me into a wormhole ) and the adults can bore into soft wood. Perhaps something like a woodworm spray would do the trick if you can remove what you can see first ?

asterel · 04/10/2023 13:46

They look a little like carpet beetle larvae. If so, they’re harmless (and pretty hard to get rid of completely).

CheeseAlways · 04/10/2023 13:49

This is kind of making me feel better that they're harmless haha, just gross!! I've vacuumed all up that I can see, I guess I'll look into spray.

Fairly sure they're carpet beetles too. They munch anything pretty much, I'd not really encountered them until 18 months ago. We used a combination of repeated applications of clothes moth spray and indorex (not at the same time and it was when the cats were in the cattery anyway because of holidays). Also lots and lots of vacuuming and empty the hoover into the outside rubbish as soon as possible. They're like small evil ferocious hideously persistent clothes moths shaped like tricoloured ladybirds when they're bigger. They fly in through windows and gaps and stuff.

BubblePopPop · 04/10/2023 14:02

Yeah definitely carpet beetles. We get them too. Had pest control out a number of times when they first started appearing due to Googling and freaking out…. and it made no difference, we’d still see them between September-March each year. Then one day I was outside and saw some in the kids paddling pool. A quick google and I realised they fly when adults! So they obviously come back in with the windows open (no wonder they’re mostly on window sills), pest control is a bit pointless. We haven’t had any damage and I just throw them out as and when I see them now although I’ve never found a massive collection of them, just the odd few here or there.
