Rangemaster!

We are buying a gas range cooker and thinking almost certainly Rangemaster - am I right to think the only different between the classic and the professional is the appearance? For the life of me, I can see no other difference, including running a comparison on the Rangemaster website.

If anyone would recommend a different brand, also happy to hear. We need 110cm and a decent capacity, and I have fallen quite in love with the door shelf that Rangemaster have so the oven tray swings out with the door?

Sorry, only just seen your message.

Dont know about the Professional but I have a black 90cm Rangemaster Classic with the oven tray holder swing out door and I can highly recommend it.

Mine has a gas main oven and the smaller electric fan oven - I think the are both electric with the newer models - along with four gas burner hob plus the wok gas hob and grill of course. I also have the matching canopy. Never once had any issues.

Mine is 18 years old and still like new. I had a brand new kitchen fitted 4 months ago but still kept my Rangemaster and canopy. You would never guess it wasn’t new. I just gave it a good clean when the old kitchen had been taken out.

I've got an electric Rangemaster and hood (previous owners choice)

I find the hood ineffective - even after I've sorted the pipework and outside vent.

The oven (oven, mini-oven and grill, under electric hob and warmer) is fine - oven temp is accurate, the warmer on the hob is more useful than I'd realised it would be, and my only complaint is that the kids have lost two of the little screw in bobbles from the knobs, and replacing the knobs is very expensive - the knobs also fall off very easily by now, so I'm praying I don't break/lose any more bits.

I've currently got a fully electric 110 with induction top and previously had a 110 dual fuel with electric oven and gas hob.

Love the ease of wiping the induction top and not having to detach all of the gas rings etc

The induction is quite powerful, I have set pans on fire a couple of times when I was getting used to it.

Both have been black enamel finish, it's very easy to wipe etc.

I agree with pp that the extraction hood is not worth it. It's not very effective but looks great as the "set" ... I wouldn't buy another though.

Similar to @JadeSeahorse but both ovens are electric fan with a gas hob.

I used the tray on the door for a while but sometimes felt limited on what else could go in the oven .

Had the cooker for so long now that if it did give up the ghost, I'd replace it with the same.

Just wish my husband wasn't so fastidious with cleaning it as some of the numbers/symbols have disappeared.

I have a rangemaster Toledo 110 fully electric with induction hob. Honestly it's the best thing we ever bought for our house. I have the matching hood and have never had a problem with it, it's very efficient and still looks good after 11years. It's very easy to clean and never developed any faults.

We've had to replace the door catch and one knob in 11 years but no breakdowns.

I must admit I detached the oven tray thing as I couldn't see the point of it and found it limited the space inside.
Also I wouldn't change it for the world, but if it ever died on me I would probably go for an eye level oven built into the wall as sometimes bending down and getting heavy Christmas turkeys out can be tricky!

Thank you, all!

Interesting to hear about all the different combinations. I wish the gas/electric oven combination were still available: we’re looking at all gas as it heats up so quickly but one fan oven would have been a good mix I think.

We’re replacing our current (inherited with the house) range which is Stoves and the knobs are plastic covered in what feels like foil, which is peeling off. They are awful and cheap and I am hoping Rangemaster will be an improvement but slightly concerned that the same will happen again. I’d love actual metal knobs.
