Is there a company that will collect my used appliances?

Hello!

Is there a company that will collect my used appliances? Ideally I would like to sell them but I cannot really bother to list it on a website nor ship it.

So if a company can collect and give me some cash, it would be great!

Thanks!

Do they work? British Heart Foundation will come take eg fridge, washing machine etc if they work as well as smaller things eg table lamp etc. They sell them to poor people in their furniture shops. Some homelessness charities will also collect stuff like this for setting people up in new homes, you'll have to see who operates in your area. You could give away for free on Facebook but you'll have the exact same effort and problems as if you tried to sell it.

If they don't work fridges aren't cheap to dispose of because of the coolant they contain. The only free place is likely to be your council's tip if you can get it there in a car. Not a van because vans are charged as commercial waste at X amount per tonne, even if they're only being used the same way someone who owns a car uses it. This is because all vans are classed as commercial vehicles officially.

The council will come collect things for the tip for a small fee per item. Just phone them, pay and book it in.

My council takes broken or unwanted small electrical items eg toaster, kettle, mobile phone etc alongside with the weekly recycling. So check what your council recycles if it's small stuff.

Scrap metal guys will collect washing machine for free.

We have a local charity who resell appliances and furniture, those on benefits get discounts.

Oh I just saw you want a company to collect and give you cash. That won't happen. Not without you advertising it for sale and it's far more likely to be a private individual who buys it than a company. You can weigh scrap metal in for payment but you'll need to take it to the scrap metal yard yourself if you want the payment. People removing these items are doing you a favour and saving you having to pay the council's removal fee, they're not going to pay you to collect! They only do it because there's something in it for them eg an item to sell that only cost them the fuel in their vehicle and their time and energy, to acquire it.
