(I know mumsnet hates these. Please don't comment to tell me they're rubbish. I know they are far inferior to separate appliances. But I don't have that option...)

So please, if you've had one which did a decent wash and dry, what was it?

Thanks ☺️

If you're short on time, here's a summary of the washer dryers Mumsnet users are recommending on this thread:

Miele WTD160 WCS 8/5 kg washer dryer, £1549 is the best of the best, plus it's QuietMark certified.

Beko 7kg Wash 4kg Dry Freestanding Washer Dryer, £349 is a more affordable option that still gets the thumbs up from Mumsnetters.

For more recommendations, we've recently updated our best washer dryers page with lots of reliable options, as tried, tested and loved by Mumsnet users. We hope you find it useful.

I have struggled on with Bosch washer dryers - performance wise they do the job but I do a minimum of two wash & dries per day and they just kept breaking down.

We are properly skint but I invested in a Miele washer dryer from John Lewis. A year in, it is amazing and so reliable.

Worth every penny. It is a crucial piece of kit for us.

I’m in the same boat. No space for a separate dryer. We have a 6 month old Bosch washing machine and I don’t really rate it that much.

I have an AEG I am happy with it

Our Beko is pretty good. I’d recommend it.

Is it space that's the problem, or the price point, @washerdryer1, when you say that you don't have the option for separate appliances?

It'll make a bit of difference to the recommendations you get. My DS and DiL just bought one for their small flat and it was a lot of research!

Space mainly, although price is of consideration ...

Any other recommendations?

In my experience it's been worth investing in buying Miele, I currently have 5 appliances, one over 20 Years old.

Previously I had bought Bosch, which are okay, but generally seemed to last 4-5 years.

The only issue I have had was with a 4 year old Miele washing machine.

The automatic dispenser leaked internally, Miele said as it was a "known issue", they were apologetic, 2 days later they delivered a new (£2.2K) machine with a two year warrantee.

Long term Miele has worked out far cheaper for me.

TBH there's also a bit of an environmental angle to this, buying cheap just encourages manufactures to make rubbish, at least if a Miele does go wrong it's worth getting it fixed.

I did see that LG has a machine called Twin Wash which can wash two different cycles at the same time, and can also dry them. Costs £2.5k though 😆
