Getting stains out of baby clothes

What do you all use to wash your children’s clothes?

I'm currently using fairy powder, comfort conditioner and washing on 40 but it doesn’t seem to be tackling the stubborn blow out stains.

Also, what settings are you using on your washing machine? Before DD arrived I would was everything on a quick wash at 30 as our clothes would never get that dirty. I’ve tried the delicates setting and cotton both on 40 but the stains don’t want to budge.

Ariel bio is the only thing that works for my kids clothes. We wash at 30, on a medium to long wash (we wash adult clothes on a short wash but it never gets the kids stuff clean).

UV light on the washing line. Sunshine will do it in hours, but even in winter, a few days out in the elements will fade stains out.

DS had food allergies and blasted out of his nappies from neck to knee, but all his outfits were salvagable.

My DS had a catastrophic nappy this afternoon, talking neck to ankles shit show.
One SMOL tab and an hour at 60 and his white vest is spotless. I'm very impressed.

Yes, I find hanging them outside in the sun is the only thing that actually gets rid of the stains.

Moancup · 23/09/2023 21:22

Soak in Napisan before hand. And I agree that UV light is magic.

LassoOfTruth · 23/09/2023 21:25

Milton fluid solution pre-soak often worked for me and also sunlight on already-washed stuff can do wonders!

MustBeDueSomeBetterFeet · 23/09/2023 21:27

Whites immediately went for soak in Napisan before a wash and that seemed to hold up.

oliveroses · 23/09/2023 21:33

Soak in vanish oxi action and another vote for the amazing power of sunlight!

PlumpAndGrump · 23/09/2023 21:35

Agree with PP saying Milton sterilising solution for whites

Soak in Milton, napisan or stain remover powder. Wash at 40

MaggieFS · 23/09/2023 22:00

Ariel and wash at 40 for stained stuff.

Normal stuff can wash at 30.

Thelazygardener · 23/09/2023 22:13

Soak whites in Napisan as soon as practically possible, wash with fairy non bio and dettol sanitiser (i put this in the conditioner drawer….I’ve not used fabric conditioner for about 2 years since discovering the dettol, leaves clothes beautiful and soft without the build up you get with conditioner)

that’s usually enough to shift the stains and then as others have said hang in the sun to refresh and brighten whites back up.

headcheffer · 23/09/2023 22:22

I use the pink stuff stain remover powder, fairy washing stuff and wash at 40. Most stuff comes out, or at least a very faint stain which I can't be bothered about when they only wear clothes for a few weeks? I use pampers nappies and rarely got nappy blow outs though. Stains now tend to be food that escapes a bib, and her clothes are hand me downs from her sister so I'm not too fussed if the odd one is not salvageable.

squirrelnutkins1 · 23/09/2023 22:26

Another vote for sunlight, it's magic! Also wash as soon as possible x

Writerscompanion · 23/09/2023 22:38

Are Milton or Napisan biological? We can only use non bio because of allergies and I'm struggling with the stains!

LittleMrsPretty · 23/09/2023 23:00

You need to soak stubborn stains immediately.

if you just throw in the wash after sitting in the wash basket the stain has set and the washing powder in the machine alone is not enough.

I rub with neat bio washing liquid and leave to soak if whites will add sime oxy white powder to soak and wash.

MaybeOneAndDone · 23/09/2023 23:05

Leaving the clothes to soak in Vanish Oxi action and fairly warm water for a few hours usually does the trick.

bellsbuss · 23/09/2023 23:20

Sunlight

Nsky62 · 23/09/2023 23:39

Always pre treat with stain remover, add vanish if needed
