Purchased or home made!

It depends what you are trying to achieve with your natural products. I'm asthmatic and I can't tolerate many of the sprays or strong smelling products that fall under the 'natural' heading.

So for me a natural clean is a bit boring compared to people who have delicious sounding cleaning recipes that I'm quite envious of, truth be told.

But, I can keep the house just as clean with much more boring methods like damp dusting rather than using polish, anything with a build up of grease just gets tackled with hot soapy water (ecover) and anything limescale-y gets vinegar (which thankfully doesn't make me wheeze) The oven is my nemesis, hot soapy water again but I use a ceramic scraper. I have a steamer for keeping the bathrooms clean and other tougher jobs around the house. It all requires a lot more elbow grease - it's a pita but it gets the job done.

@Desecratedcoconut that’s a useful clarification. DS had his first episode of viral wheeze coupled with potential
asthma last night so is in the same category. Thanks for the suggestions, very helpful.

Ah shit, it's scary, isn't it? Hope he's feeling better now. A viral wheeze doesn't have to mean asthma and my asthma is fairly severe so please don't think that the above is standard protocol for a wheezer, even if it does turn out to be asthma.

Speak to the asthma nurse/ ring asthma uk (they're great and the nurses are brilliant) if you need advice.

The only thing I'd say is don't break out the Vicks vaporub - no matter whatever well meaning friends tell you.

@Desecratedcoconut it was a bit of a shock. DH and I both have mild asthma so I wasn’t too alarmed until 111 said they were sending an ambulance on blue lights. He was fine after a couple of nebulisers and a spacer. Fortunately I’m into alternative/natural stuff anyway so I’ll just have to get used to the idea of more elbow grease until we know where we are. DS will be seeing the asthma nurse on Monday and I’ll definitely phone Asthma UK, I hadn’t thought of that.
