AEG heat pump dryer

Does anybody have one of these?

Its the AEG 7000 8kg heat pump dryer.

The big drawer is for moisture collected from wet clothes.

Mine has never had a single drop of water in the drawer - i pull out after each use.

Is it because i only put clothes / towels in there that have been dried on the airer? - i only use for 10 mins to soften so they arent wet enough? Or is my machine faulty.

Ive had it for 2 months and have used maybe 6 or 7 times. The drawer is huge so can hold a large amount of water but honestly not a drop in mine even when somethings still had a bit of moisture on it.

Sorry if Im being dim! Ive never had this type of dryer before.

I also dont use the cycles. I use the time dry setting only and set it myself.

The empty water tank light also comes on after most uses aswell which im sure is just standard. I always hoover the filter and the bit that collects fluff. Im just confused why theres no water whatsoever in the drawer.

It sounds like you're only putting dry things in? It'll only collect the water if they are wet

We have the aeg 8000. It’s plumbed in so no water collects in the drawer. Have you also plumbed yours in?

Babygirl888 · 14/09/2023 19:22

Its not plumbed in, its not in a kitchen or utility so just plugged in.

Thats what I thought but surely a single drop would've appeared after 6 uses. Some of the towels have been a tiny bit wet but still no water in the drawer.

I've got the AEG 7000. Yes there will be water in the drawer after it's dried wet clothes but as others have said, if what yiu are putting in is not wet then there won't be any water to collect.

Also, mine works out the moisture level and from that works out how long to dry things for (takes about 20 minutes from when I turn it on though to register) so if your towels are already dry then I doubt it's even drying them & after it's worked out they aren't wet it turns itself off. That will be costing you electric & it's a huge waste of time too!

Why don’t your just put some wet clothes in and see if water collects in the drawer.

Babygirl888 · 14/09/2023 19:37

I dont use the cycles which are where is uses the sensidry / measures moisture levels. I use the time dry only and they come out nice and toasty and bone dry so its definitely doing what I want it to.

If ive ever put jeans in the pockets might sometimes feel a bit damp and this also hasnt produced anything in the drawer. Ive never used a dryer for wet clothes so maybe I am just putting in very very dry clothes and it has nothing to produce?!

Ill probably find out nearer to winter when the clothes wont dry on the airer as well..

The way it's meant to work is that the heat stays inside the drum, the wet clothes gradually heat up until the water in them turns to steam and then it collects. You're doing none of those things. You're leaving in already dry clothes for ten minutes until they get warm as well.

If you want it to actually do its job you may need to follow the instructions. Ten minutes will do absolutely nothing in drying terms.

Babygirl888 · 14/09/2023 19:57

It does do something in terms of drying as things are coming out more dry than they went in. I dont need 2 hour cycles as Im not putting soaking wet clothes in.

When i tried the cycles with the clothes that had been dried on the airer before, it was stopping after a few minutes as they werent super wet and it was obviously detecting this so the only way to get it to completely dry up and soften my clothes / towels is the time dry setting which works. Just wondered why no water has accumulated but I was obviously being dim!
