Sofa rejuvenator boards - has anyone used them?

We have two sofas that have seen better days but don't have the budget to replace them at the moment. Kids who land rather than sit on them, plus a big heavy dog, have meant they are now sagging in the middle.

Google keeps showing me sofa rejuvenator boards on Amazon - are they worth it? They seem to either be suspiciously cheap, or closer to £70 with not much in the middle.

I'd be happy to buy the £70 ones if I knew they were any good, but don't want to blow £140 for both sofas on something that will be useless.

Anyone tried these before?

I had an ageing sofa. We stuck a bit of chipboard under the cushions and also got them filled with new foam. That made a difference.

I wouldn't be paying £70 for what is essentially a covered/painted bit of chipboard OP.

I have a similar setup as fluffyclouds except I used the lats from an old bed base I was dismantling/throwing away.

Thanks for the chipboard tip! I am going to rummage in the garage as I'm sure we must have something that would work just as well.

Don’t know if you got your sofa sorted just seen your post you can pick up seat firmer on eBay for around £12

DP used a £5 piece of chipboard from B&Q for my old sofa as a 'temporary fix' and it has been great! Still in place, about 5 years later ...

Hope you find a piece to fit, @MrsPepperp0t - you have to report back Smile

I was going to post this

if the cushions are sinking, how does placing something under them help? I'm confused.

I'd like to get the cushions replaced but I imagine that will cost a lot more.

AutumnCrow · 02/10/2023 16:19

Emma, most of the problem is usually that the cushions are sinking down into the 'straps' underneath them. So if you put a board over the sagging straps, or whatever the fabric is under the cushions, then you solve a lot of the problem iyswim.

Then you can tackle the cushions.

Argh just lost an entire post so will be brief as cba to type it all again. Basically I bought these and they're great, have really made a difference. The saggier of the cushions still sags but is improved nonetheless.

Right, I see
shoukd have said, mine is a sofa bed

MrsPepperp0t · 02/10/2023 21:51

Ah yes, would be more complicated with a sofa bed I think. Although I only have our ancient Ikea one to go by, I can't see where you'd put anything to reinforce the cushions .

But the straps have flex. Surely chip board is so rigid it must be like sitting on cushions on concrete

Yes, it is. My Grandad 'fixed' his sofa with a piece of chipboard. I unsuspectingly sat on the sofa and gave my poor bum an almighty bashing.
