How do you split the chores equally around the house from household chores to everyday stuff between your and your partner if you are both working full time:

• cooking
• washing up
• cleaning house
• tidying up
• decluttering
• organising
• DIY
• gardening
• paperwork
• updating insurances
• car maintenance i.e. MOT, road tax, insurance etc
• tax returns
• food shopping
• other shopping i.e. clothes, toys, stuff for house
• children's homework
• children's extracurricular activities
• arranging social calendar
• arranging day trips
• arranging holidays
• mental load
• and other things

It's never ending!!

we play to our strengths i do what i am good at he does what he is good at.I tend to do

• food shopping
• other shopping i.e. clothes, toys, stuff for house
• children's extracurricular activities
• arranging social calendar
• arranging day trips
• arranging holidays
• cooking
and of course work

he sorts the other stuff but if the task is monumental then i help like sorting the garden .I do a few dish washer loads and he cleans the kitchen ,i may do a few laundry loads but so does he

Essentially when we are both home neither of us sits down until we both do. We both look to get stuff done but playing to our preferences. We cook and wash up together. Otherwise we play to our preferences.

I start work later so tend to do things like put the washing on and hang it out, whereas he gets back sooner so brings it in etc.

Seems like you all have an even split!
I wish I could have an even split so I had less stress on my head and also for the husband to get things done.

Our diy list increased to 50 whilst I waited and waited for him to do stuff. I then intervened and got someone in and did the shopping for all the parts etc and then from then I stopped doing the laundry and cooking and dishes and leave that to him.

Diy list is now 10 and I have started giving him the list and wonder if it will get in the same state as before

I’m returning to work soon, and I’m going to pick the jobs for DH that he can actually competently and quickly do. Unfortunately, I can do three tasks in the time it takes him to do one. So it won’t be an even split of tasks, but hopefully an even split of time. Good luck OP.

ManicMum2023 · 15/08/2023 21:48

Thanks all!

Yes it's the time thing..we are all time poor and an even split of time is what we need.

I forgot
• school runs
• school assemblies/workshops
