My tumble dryer isn't collecting water?

I have a candy tumble dryer that's a condenser. For some reason it's not collecting water now?

It's a huge fire hazard and I'm scared to use it! Does anyone have a rough idea why this must be? I'll have to get someone to come look at it this week but in the mean time advice would be soo appreciated x

How old is it? It's probably got fluff blocking the water drain bit. If it's not under any kind of warranty, and you're able to, it's probably worth opening it up and cleaning it all out.

I've had it for 3 years now! Weird for it to just suddenly have a issue but I guess nothing is reliable! I'll get my partner to have a look all over but yeah I'll deffo have to get someone out if not!

Have you cleaned the filter recently? Not the mini filter that collects most fluff, the big metal one?

Nope haven't cleaned that! Not sure how to but that's a good idea. I clean the water and usual fluff part after every use so it could deffo be clogged up somewhere else x

Have a look on you tube, there's always a guy with a how to video, couple of yeas ago my tumble dryer stopped heating up, the heating element was tripping so I ordered a new one and replaced it, it was easy to take the back and side off and disconnect the other one and connect the new element, literally just a small plug. Did it myself and saved myself buying a new tumble dryer.

Yes, clean the condenser. Probably located at bottom of the machine. You can wash all of the fluff out. 3 years is a long time, it must be struggling as should be cleaned regularly.

Do the clothes come out dry? If so the water must be going somewhere.

eandz13 · 27/06/2023 19:03

I think it will most likely be that then! Mine slacks off when I don't clean it out every couple of months. X

I put it on the other day a normal amount of clothes.. it was on for the normal time and then I emptied the clothes and there was no water! So I tried it again with the bedding and again no water! No sign of water anywhere else definitely not safe x

Well I'm wondering if it's plumbed into the mains but for some reason before it was filling up the tank instead? And now it's like it's discovered the drainage pipe.

I think if it was just flooding the machine it wouldn't work or you'd notice water leaking out of it. Those two loads of clothes/bedding must have had quite a lot of water in.

Hi, I have just seen your post - I posted the same question a couple of days ago and have the same problem - my condenser Hoover tumble dryer is drying the clothes but no water is collecting in the water reservoir. It is not connected to a drain and we cannot work out where the water is going. We have cleaned the filter and the condenser unit. I just wondered how you resolve yours?!

NewJeans · 29/01/2024 18:45

Is the water evaporating into the air? That's what used to happen before condenser dryers were a thing.

To stop the room developing a damp problem, you'd have to attach a huge hose to the place the air came out and poke the end of the hose through a part open window, so the damp air vented outside as much as possible.

If the condenser isn't collecting the water it could be water vapour is escaping from somewhere into the room as hot damp air, before the point at which it would be condensed back into water again.

I've got the same issue here. It's drying the clothes well, but no water in the tank that I usually empty after four to six loads. It's not collecting in the machine, and there doesn't seem to be extra water vapour in the room.
Mine started to not collect water after I cleaned the big filter.
