How to remove limescale from taps?

It seems to be covering the end part of the spout just where the water comes out and it looks awful. Any ideas?

A MN tip I got was to scrape/rub it with a 2p coin. If its very built up limescale it'll be tricky to remove.
You could also try white vinegar - ideally fix a small bag to the tap overnight so that you can submerge the limescale in it.

Put some white vinegar in a sandwich bag and tie it onto the tap with an elastic band so the spout is in the vinegar. Leave for about an hour and most if not all the scale should be dissolved.

I live in an area where the water coming out of the taps is almost solid chalk!

Oh the vinegar sounds good and cheap too. I will pop that on this evening before bed so thanks.

Viakal. Spray and leave for hours rather than minutes or wrap it in viakal saturated kitchen paper and leave again for as long as possible.

At one time I had a little silicone bulb that fitted over the taps that you filled with vinegar. A plastic bag would be a easier method like @Missedmytoe says.

Vinegar will stink your house out for days and fir my tap didn’t work. Was great in the toilet though.

I use tomato ketchup for the hard water deposits on chrome. just smear on leave for 10 mins then wipe off. A polish over with WD-40 seems to help stop build up.

Harpic black bottle toilet cleaner for limescale. It is thick so it sticks. I use it on my taps and it works.

I use citric acid. Run the tap for a second, put dry citric acid on a kitchen paper towel, then put it under the tap (the drips will wet it through) then tie it on with an elastic band or hair tie. Leave it for a few hours. Works much better than vinegar.

For taps I make a vinegar and fairly liquid (40:58:2 vinegar:water:fairy liquid) and spray it on the taps and anything else with lime scale, leave it for a minute, then give it a scrub with a sponge, works perfectly.

If you’ve got half a lemon you’ve squeezed to have juice, you can tie it onto the end with a hair tie. Might not dissolve it all but softens it enough to chip it off, ime.

You could use all manner of lemons, vinegar, unicorn juice etc.
Or just spray it with limescale remover.
